Paul i'm not convinced they "FAIL" Mine shorted out I checked the wiring(the supplied harness for series 2)I think the fan blades at some point took a chunk out of the wire as two of them were bare and a couple of the strands were touching.Anyway as i've said in a reply below I will try the "mended"one tomorrow.:duffer: Rgds chaZ:cool:
  6. Opened up mine to day with dremel one of the connectors had melted(MUST HAVE BEEN HEEUVA SHORT!) have bridged it with solder will try it tomorrow. Will keep you posted:D chaZ
  7. Mark it's probably a good scheme to keep your series 1 just in case....:) When I replace with a series 2 I will keep the other as a spare,should have done that the first time around:headvswal chaZ:)

  9. :)Honestly did'nt think it was the PTU as it is a series 2 Turned out it is.Put in the car myself about 4yrs ago.Now back to a series 1 thanks to Paul@SWZ So for £30 car back on the road.It did give me a chance to check all the Engine bay wiring and contacts and give the all a fix.:D:D Cheers Paul and thank you for lending me the ECU & CAS they will be back in the post tomorrow.you do run a brilliant service:bow: chaZ:cool:

Packs up,goes t..s up,dosen't work,breaks down,goes unservicable (goes u/s):D:D Yep Dan that's what I mean.Whatever way you view it thanks, for the reply.I thought if they never break I might have a bigger problem.:confused::confused: Was there any reason that you know of or did it just cease to work one day?:cry:

Funny,sometimes you wish and hope nothing expensive goes t..s up.and sometimes hope that for the sake of simplicity you do.Hopefully when Paul@SWZ sends me a PTU to try(as well as an ECU) I might have a CAR and not a heap of metal keeping the bike company in the garage. However the Datascan does give a code 21 when you try to start. Hope its not the wiring!!!!!:headvswal:headvswal:headvswal:D

  16. :confused:Changed the Air Reg and IAA today.Started up first time.went to take IAA plug off ,Engine stopped and now won't start.Turns over ok but no start.Unfortunately someone has at some time replaced both plugs to the IAA and botched the plugs to fit,consequently both plugs are interchangable'so now I dont know which plug goes where .Can some one please tell me the colour of both wires going to the upper plug on the IAA valve:confused: Also should the car start with the plug off ???? chaZ

For info I think they stopped making the stingray shape in 1982,did not produce a car in 1983 so the first of the new shape(L98)started production in 1984 I owned a 1988 L98 for several years---Would still have one if I could afford to buy a ZR1 OR A C5 I can only dream about a C06:cry: Incidentally for the seven years I had the Vette I never had a days mechanical problem,I STILL LOVE VETTS:D:D chaZ
