I'm not picking the stuff up until the end of October, I've found somewhere to put it all just got to wait till then till its free so at the moment its all down in London at my uncles house! Hi all I know your a knowlegeable bunch (well most lol) so looking for some advice. I've been offered two 53 reg transit recovery trucks, five car transporter trailers and ten engine hoists (after I've just brought one!:mad2:) for £3000!! I had to take them as I know I can get more than that back selling them but I was thinking of possibly hiring them out and maybe transporting cars myself as well. What I wanted to know is if there are any tests that the trailers and hoists would have to be subjected to before they can be hired and also what sort of insurances I would need? If it works out then obviously you lot would get discount if I become a trader and it's not treading on anyones toes on here :cool3:

Sold my brothers car for him on ebay, after three auctions and none paying bidders not turning up two Romanians finally turned up. They won the auction for £1400 but turned up with £800 and said take it or we leave negative feedback and say the car is shit. I hate ebay.

Yeah I know thats what I thought. Someone else just said the best car didn't win and most people are in agreement.

It's crap because of one set of people who did a bad job when getting paid vast amounts of money? So is it a crap idea by people who say the prime minister should be paid less because there are a lot of people who are crap at their jobs on low pay? Yet again someone mentions the bankers because they are the only people in the country who earn more than the prime minister.....................

I would want to run a country for £10,000,000 a year and many others would, but not for £160k. Name a country which you see as an ideal template then which we should follow? I can't think of one but I do think offering a much better wage would entice a much better candidate for the job.

Why when people talk of big money wages does everyone scream banks? There are many people in many industries that are over seeing massive growth and employing the right people in the right places to achieve this. Just look at the telecommunication industry or the computing indutry to name just two. Why would anyone want to run a country for a modest wage? I'm a postman and earn around £30k a year, I know I'd rather do this than have the responsibility of running a country for £160k.

Yeah I know where you are coming from but nonw of them have the intelligence to put in to practice what they promise where as if the pay was better you'd get more able people offering to do the job.

I qualify for a free badge and a card that lets me use staff toilets at any business establishment because of my ulcerative colitis :thumbup1: lol As for the Prime Minister I say pay him £10,000,000 a year then youd get proper brains in the job. Anyone who is smart enough to run a country well isn't going to do it for £160k a year they are going to run a multi national company for an 8 figure salary.

Think its a bit OTT to be honest. I'm not disabled myself but my father was both physically and mentally disabled and to be honest I didn't find any of it offensive. I hear words like spaz, cripple, brain dead, retarded all the time and I don't get mad about it. I know in life that people won't agree with everything I say and I also know that not everybody in life understands every aspect of every other persons life. For christs sake its only the bloody internet calm down.

I know a lot of people think you get a lot of disability benefits but if you are genuinely disabled they don't come close to coverign the costs of a 'normal' life. When my dad had a stroke and was left in a permenant vegetative state and my mum had to finish work to be his carer she got £53 a week carers allowance and £80 disability living allowance a week OR a car. £133 a week or £53 and a car. If they didnt own their house though they would have had all bills etc paid. To anger a few people about the benefits culture in this country and how unfair it can be. I have ulcerative colitis which is an incurable bowel disorder and basically means you have to go to the toilet 7-10 times a day. It is horrible and very uncomfortable and is quite life changing BUT I wouldn't class it as a disability. I have to go hospital monthly for check ups and to see my consultant and he said I was working too hard (70 hours a week) and my body can't take it. I said I had no choice got bills to pay etc and left it at that. A week later I got an information pack telling me I can claim up to £2000(!) a month, have a car, free childcare, half my mortgage paid, 30% council tax reduction, half price gas and electric and can have any outstanding debts consolidated and pay a much lower rate of interest! As long as me and anyone in my house do not work! Thats so unfair and disgusting that I can be offered that for something which is bad but not terrible. You can see why people do it though. Don't worry I havent! I'm 29 can't retire yet! haha

When I was 13 I finished an adults meal somewhere in Devon and won £20! I only left the black pudding and my dad ate it when no one was looking haha

Couldn't agree more, maybe if you had something in your will or your loved ones could make a decision if there was no quality of life and no chance of it improving. Something needs doing, if it happned to a dog it would be put down as it would be unfair to live that way so why is it ok for humans?

I've been following this story very closely due to my family being in a similar situation. In 2008 my 49 year old father had a bleed on the brain which put him in a coma and then three days later had a masisve stroke leaving him 80% brain dead. Its technically known as permanant vegatative state. He was deaf, blind, paralysed, and had no thought process and means to communication. As one doctor described it he was "nothing more than a breathing corpse." He lived like this for another two and a half years and after six months in hospital was cared for by my mother and me and my three brothers and one sister. We didn't mind obviously but it was heartbreaking knoing how much he would have hated it. In a house he built with his own hands he was now bed bound with his wife having to give him medication every four hours every day, being bed bathed by his family morning and night, being fed by a tube directly into his stomach, wearing an adult nappy and havign to be cleaned by your wife, wearign a bib to aid the dribbling etc. This is something these pro life campaigners fail to realise. Whilst everyone has a right to life they also have a right to quality of life. People need to know there is a fate worse than death. Imagine your child pulling your body onto its side whilst your wife wipes your backside and they then put a new nappy on you, is that better than death? If I could relive that time again I'd inject my dad with enough morphine to kill him and I'd take the prison sentence standing on my head without an ounce of guilt. If i ever get diagnosed with anything that will end with me being incapble to care for myself or communicate I shall be killing myself striaght away. My dad never had the choice, a normal man watching match of the day, stands to go to the toilet and just collapsed. Any pro life campaigner who would like to talk face to face with me and/or my family let me know and I can show you heartbreak that will change your stance.

Hi all, I'm taking an engine out a mk4 golf gti and I've brought myself a hoist (thanks for the recommendation Mark_derby) but not sure what to wrap aound the engine to lift it. A friend said he has always used ratchet straps but not sure i trust them. What would you guys suggest?

Oh thats good that its still in the club. I was without a laptop for a few months last year came back and he'd gone.

Whatever happened to him and his zed? I used to love readin up about it, then I read he was selling it not long after finishing it. Did it sell? I can remember him saying he spent over £50k on it, I doubt he got near that back for it! Hope he never broke it although that engine in Car Mad's car would be my dream zed!
