  1. Daz, thanks for info when we spoke. Unfortunately its going to be broken. I will however be taking a few momentos to remember her by. I will also one day be back with a nice 'new' Z!! Watch this space!!
  2. Not sure about the answer to either of the last two, but can only assume that if the wire goes there then it should be connected to something!!
  3. Baz, Will take to Mot cert to D2 today see what they say about the work, if I can supply Xmember may make it cheaper. What you looking for it posted?
  4. Yes I believe so, the parents are now pestering to get the car moved off their garden ;-) I am looking at either selling (breaking / as whole) or possibly taking Mot failure certificate to D2 in strood to see what the damage would be!! If its not too steep may possibly go for it for one last year!!
  5. Why have I not heard of them before!! I will have a look on way home from work tomorrow! THanks for info would dearly love to get it working again, must admit the garage I took it to may have been lets say looking for work maybe?? Thanks for info.
  6. OK so, will get phots at weekend and would love to hear what ppl think about the work. Has anyone done anything like this before? What sort of cost for welding the cross member / fix brake lines?? Thanks zx_steve
  7. Yes, unfortunately it is. :crying: Car has given me a brilliant couple of years but unfortunately the rust got the better of her!!! How are you doing, what are you driving now??
  8. Hello all, Long time no speak, The Z has failed its MOT and I do not have the time or money to fix it. I would like advice on whether to break it or to try and sell for spares / repair. In summary the Mot failed it on crossmember and break lines. I have set up website if people would like to have a look and request stuff here I am also willing to sell the car if someone would like the project, nothing wrong with the engine, body, gearbox etc just those two points!! Will put the Mot certificate up soon. PS the car has a cherished plate which will stay with the car if you buy it. Worth about £500 (J5 GDL) Cheers zx_steve http://zx-steve.yolasite.com/ __________________
  9. Pete, will check sometime this weekend. I am pretty sure they made it clear that it WASNT the rad mount one but the one that holds the suspension etc in place. Cheers zx_steve
  10. I am pretty sure from the Mot failuer it was described as "The one that supports the suspension and not the one that supports the radiator". So I can only assume (yes, yes I know Assumptions the mother of all.....) that it is the first one that you refer to. Can you get me price for the one that bridges the engine and if possible a quick step guide (as in is it simple enough to do without a pit / any things to look out for) to replace said crossmember. Regarding the brakes I was told it was a front - rear pipe that had corroded, so is it easy / has anyone built their own pipes from, say, this:- https://www.europaspares.com/BRAKE_PARTS/BRAKE_PIPE_and_FLUID/BRAKE_PIPE___COPPER___KUNIFER_3825.html ?? Also what diameter is the pipe just so I can get an idea of the type of pipe. Cheers zx_steve
  11. Me either, I did post in there today LOL :) Hmmm just keep looking
  12. That seller is no longer a member. Was also looking for technical advice
  13. Well, My Zed has been off the road for the winter (under wraps) and I took it for MOT last week but it failed on a few points. Mainly the front cross member was rotten and the brake hoses had a 'build up' of corrosion. Basically I would like some advise on the possibility of replacing these parts. Firstly is it a simple case of removing old X Member and replacing with new one? (are there any technical details / drawings / photos anywhere) and secondly can I replace the steel brake hoses for braided ones, specifically these ones:- http://www.brake-lines.co.uk/hel-brake-lines-nissan-300zx-z32.html Will these replace the metal hoses from the master cylinder right through to the calipers, front and back? If not can I get some braided hose to replace the steel hoses? Thanks zx_steve

  16. Thanks, good places to start looking!! ZX_Steve
  17. I will be having a bit of body work done, about £300 for one side respray and spoiler removal and resprayed. I hope to have about £700 left for engine / suspension / trannie. Probably try and get most important stuff done first: 1) Boost hoses 2) water hoses 3) wire loom, sparks and injector plugs 4) new bushes (they squeak a bit!!) Anyone any idea how much parts would cost / best place to get them?? TIA ZX_Steve
  18. I used to drive to work every day, about 35 miles each way, the car was fine. Petrol prices have caused me to get a more economical car to drive but I still have the Z which is going to be used as an occassional car. Although I did bring her into work today, not good idea as it was raining and now I think MAF is fudged!! (Wont rev past 2500) It did this before and I managed to clean it out with some air duster!! The Zed handled the 70 mile round trip for a whole year and a trip to the ring in Germany in December!! (PS I got a 10:30 lap time, not that I was timing it!;);) )
  19. Hello all, I am going to be doing a lot of work on the Zed over the next few months now that I can get her off the road (I now have an LPG Astra aswell), I will be putting her in a garage for the next few months. I want to do some stuff to make her run like new like replacing boost hoses and rad pipes but what else should I be doing. The rest of the hoses are quite solid should I look at replacing all of them? What else should I be doing at this stage in her life? She is a 1991, Twin Turbo, Manual, UK Spec. No engine enhancements and stock exhaust, gearbox and everything else. I am not sure how much money I will have but what I do have is time and a garage. If there are any ideas / websites / documents that I can read I would be msot appreciative. Thanks zx_steve
  20. Cheers for info, anything else I can try though to try and eliminate things. Cheers ZX_Steve
  21. Most definately engine oil as I notice pressure dropped this morning. I will put some new oil in today. Is it easy to fix? Any guides / pictures? Cheers ZX_Steve
  22. Hello all, Just recently I have noticed that my Z has got an oil leak, when I leave in the morning for work there is a small patch of oil about centre of engine. I had a look underneath the car and found that the sump has oil on it from about half way back and thus the clutch housing and g/box and d/shaft have oil down them. It appears that may be coming from up the side of the sump and running down it and therefor causing oil on everything over it. Could the sump seal be gone?? Any ideas would be most appreciated Cheers ZX_Steve PS will get piccies up as soon as I have got camera attached.
  23. Which seals tend to go?? Can they be replaced when the exhaust is being changed?? Often thought about getting an aftermarket exhaust but was always put off by thought of ££££ for new tubs!! ZX_Steve
  24. Thats funny, Sorry for any confusion caused ;-)
  25. Car is stock at them moment, no upgrades or modifications. UK Manual TT 1991
