Ok....I need some advice....
I too had the smell of petrol (on occassion) so followed the advice above and had a ganders at my hose clips. The ones on top seemed to be fine and there was no smell of petrol coming from their locality so I figured I'd check under the plenum. So...out came the allen key and having removed two screws, the third just wouldn't budge. Bit of elbow grease later and i finally got it off whilst all the while reciting to myself 'do not drop the allen key!'.....you guessed it....once the screw was out and my guard was lowered, being the monkey I am, I dropped the key!!
So....how do I find it?? I took the leap of faith that it wouldn't cause my engine to blow and started up the old gal and even took her for a rather vigorous spin in the hope the key may dislodge itself and end up on the tarmac. However, a very careful search of said tarmac has not resulted in finding the allen key! I spent a good 40mins with a torch down the engine having a look around, but not being au fait with engines, I was searching blind. It just doesn't seem to be there! No rattle when the engine is running either!
What do I do? Forget about it as there doesn't seem to be any further problems and hope that it may have fallen out during the drive? All and any ideas welcome!
(apologies for the essay!)
