Alloy wheels Help!
My local scrappy made me an offer I couldn't refuse. It was a set of 17inch alloy wheels which came off a late model MR2, though I don't think they are original. They are 10 spoke with 10 small stud holes at the top of each spoke. At the rim end there are two allen key studs each side of the spoke. They look more decoritive than practical. the wheels are the normal alloy colour except the outer rim which shines like stainless steel. They are fitted with yokohama tyres which are less than a quarter worn. the tyre sizes are 135-40-17, the other two being 205-40-17, but I expect I could live with that for a while. They came with the wheel nuts, which being very slim have a allen key type fitment on the end to tighten them up. All this for £200. You have probably guessed, the nuts don't fit! The thread is too course for the studs. I was wondering if anyone recognises these wheels and nuts, and had any idea where I could get some to fit. I have tried local shops and most have never seen wheel nuts like these. I thought it was all too good to be true. Any help would be great. Stuart

FreeView
Funnyly enough, I only bought a free view box last week. I bought it in the local Macro store, they were knocking them out for around £70. I was getting some stick from the wife because we could not get channel 5 and a few others. It seems to work fine, just plugs into the normal ariel. There is no movie channel, but you get a good x section of everything else. The great thing is it's not costing anymore. The wife's happy, and that's what matters! Stuart

New starter
ROSS There is a Zed for sale on Hayling Island, I have just noticed it It is on the adtrader site under Nissan 300tt. I live on H, Island, you can come and look at mine if you wish. Unfortunately The exhaust is blowing and it failed it's mot so I am not using it. I'm still deciding what to do about it in regards to the replacement. Last week I saw 3 Zeds on H Island on the same day, one having an Irish Number, must be a record. They give a lot of grief but are still worth it. Stuart

Clean exhausts?
On more pedestrian cars like Fords or Renaults, the exhaust tail pipe is usually a pale grey colour if the car is in tune. On motorways, it can get quite pale, but town driving makes it go darker. In these cases, if it goes sooty it's either rich or the timing is a few degrees out.Since the Zed engine is covered in sensers, I'd hate to offer an opinion on it. In the perfect world it should not be over sooty. Many years ago, I had a Triumph T.R.5, which was very sooty coupled with poor mpg, and that turned out to be worn injectors. Regards Stuart S.

Z for sale on ebay
It has been on Ebay several times last Sept, Oct time. He didn't get much luck then. If I remember right , he wants around £4500 for it. Zeds come up quite regularly on Ebay. At the moment there is a offside head light and wing for £25 a piece if anyone wants them. Stuart S.

Which one...
Hi I use a Snooper SD815S which has done good service for several years in different cars. There is probably a more up to date version now, but it tells me which are working and importantly which cameras are not. It has it's foibles like going off under power cables etc , but you soon learn. Personnally I don't think you need anything too complicated or technical all you need is a warning. If you do not want to spend too much loot, there are always quite a few for sale on Ebay under car accesseries. You have always got to remember to remove it when not in use otherwise it is tempting for someone to break in and pinch it! Stuart S.

Hicas light and bell ringing?????
When I bought my car, the Hicas light was on , and I thought the worse. However it turned out to be low fluid in the power stearing resevoir. I would check that first. The chime you hear, is somrthing the imports have. Jap law states that their cars have to have an audible warning when the car reaches the equivelent of 70 m.p.h., and it normally continues untill the speed drops below that figure. It can get irritating. Stuart S.

MPG not good!!
I also have an imported '91 manual tt. I get around 25 m.p.g. It came with standard 225-50-16s all round. However I changed the tyres to 225-55-16s. It helps the ride, raises the gear ratios, reduces the revs for the same speed, and I have not noticed any change in acceleration or cornering. Mind you I am a lazy driver in that I hardly ever go over 4000 revs and the torque is so good that the car will drop below 1500 revs in top and still pull away stongly. Perhaps not the way it should be driven, but it will go when I want it to move. Stuart S

JapLink
Get down to Southampton docks to the Japanese import car auctions on a Tuesday or Wednesday every week and take your pick of many Zeds for under 3 grand unregistered. It is no big deal getting them sorted. What you pay includes all the taxes, shipping, v.a.t. etc. There are no garrantees with the cars so you have to have your wits about you! It worked for me. how long you owned your zed?
I have had my Zed for 6 weeks, and so for it has not cost me a penny. The reason is it has not been out of the garage, well once or twice when the wife's at work. If she finds out what is in the garage she'll kill me. I just can't get up courage to face the agro! She thinks I'm doing great d.i.y projects in the garage. Fortunatley She never goes in the garage because of the awefull mess, and her attitude to cars is that she just drives them and I'm responsable for everything else. I can see her point of view in a way for I already have a face lift 300zx and a later 200sx cluttering up the drive. Well I'm happy anyway! Stuart

Unregistered Zed
Hi Everyone, I'm afraid I am a new kid on the block and need some help and advice. I have bought an unregistered imported twin turbo which needs sorting for an mot and uk regulations before I can use it. Does anyone know of a firm who specialises in zeds in the south, who could sort it out.I live near Portsmouth, and prepared to travel within reason. Local Nissan don't want to know.My car is a October 1991 manual, done 40,000 miles and cost me £2500. They come cheaper than that at Southampton docks. They have 2 auctions a week of imported cars. On average 10 zeds a week are sold never more than £2800, but unregistered. My car is not perfect of course, a section of exhaust needs attention, and the boot area is a bit tatty, but I'm not complaining, I expected to spend a few bob bringing it up to scratch. Looking forward to hearing from you Stuart
