  1. I was lead to believe that horses and riders riding horses are virtually immune to claims for compensation in cases of accidents as horses are deemed to have a mind and will of their own,and therefore their actions are unpridictable. Therefore in this case if the horse lurched towards the car and broke the wing mirror, then basically they should try suing the horse which could be classed as unrealistic. Of course I might be totally wrong, but over the years I.ve known 2 cases of friends having cars damaged by horses and they had to claim on their own insurance.
  2. Hi Steve Happy New Year! The auction is mainly the trade and dealers. The general public are welcome, you have to pay £400 deposit to get a bidding number, which is returnable if you don't buy anything. There is also a £150 indeminity fee charged on each vehicle, fairly standard at car auctions. None of the cars are registered of course, you have to get that done youself, no big deal. It is A1 carauctions every monday. they put their catalogue on line each weekend. Stuart
  3. Went to Southampton import auctions on Monday, first time for 3 years since I bought mine. Over 400 cars mainly due to the Xmas holidays falling on Mondays. Mainly 4x4 and people carriers, but a fair sprinkling of sports cars. 4. Rent out and maintain property. When a tenant gets her window broken at midnight by a passing gang of drunks and she calls out an emergency glazing company to put up a piece of board which takes them everything of ten minutes, and I get sent a bill for £245 for the priviledge of not being disturbed, you soon learn to get out of bed what time of night it is! Renting out property is not all money for old rope.
  5. Look on Ebay. There are hundreds up for sale of everymake, even high spec ones go for less than £400. Been looking for one for my wife for Xmas!
  6. Great!! Put me down for one. Thanks
  7. Look at http://www.A1 carauctions.co.uk at Southampton. Their catalogue for next Monday's auction down on the docks includes 8 Zs. They have them every week. One I notice is a "K" reg with only 34700 klms onthe clock!! Stuart
  8. Steve Should be able to make it, I said that for the trip to Bournemouth, but hopefully the road won't be gridlocked. I'll see you there in Brighton as I'll be coming along the coast. The car has only been out of the garage once since then, which is why I seem to have fairly trouble free motoring! Stuart
  9. I had a small open topped bag in my car and it was to cover up the cd player in the boot. Stuart
  10. I am the first uk owner, got no paperwork at all except what you need to register the car from the auctioneers. Found some Japanese loose change, membership card to a girly club and some cigarette tokens. I have been lucky so far very few problems over nearly 3 years, still on the original battery. Stuart
  11. I'm afraid I chickened out. Having spent over an hour doing 5 miles at the bottom of the M27,and it had turned 2oclock and I still had 25 miles to go at what appeared to be a crawl, I turned round and got home in 30 minutes!. I'm afraid the road over the New Forest is bad news in the holiday season as everyone seems to be going down the west country. Make it a Sunday next time. Stuart
  12. Should be able to make it, car has not been out of the garage since the b/que at Butser Hill near Petersfield. A good blowout across the New Forest should do the trick, though I expect the traffic will be heavy. Stuart
  13. The original was recorded live at a oxford university union dinner by I believe a chap called Hoffman in the sixties who was a well known after dinner speaker. There are other goodies on the record in the same speech, when he was discribing car insurance claims and why it was not their fault. Like the tree seemed to have jumped out into the road,or the cow was not obeying the highway code!. Stuart
  14. Just like to say thanks to Neil and his crew for putting on a great b/que, thoroughly enjoyed it and nice to meet some of the z31 lads. Hope the traffic was not too bad on the way home. Stuart
  15. Fogot to say, the Elizabeth country park show is also on this weekend on the other side of the road. Worth a visit if the family are with you.
  16. I'll be going in the afternoon, no excuse when it is so close to me. Look forward to meeting the z31 lads as I have 3 of them! Hoping to perhaps get rid of a couple of them. Going to Tichfield boat jumble in the morning. Why does everything happen on the same day? Stuart
  17. I think Steve was thinking of me when talking of someone in their mid sixties. I'm not quite that old, but older than anyone else so far. The only trouble being my age is when I get out of the car in a public place they are all thinking " what's that old fart doing driving that nice car!" Stuart
  18. Make sure the engine is in good order, the cost of a rebuild makes an engine rebuild on a zed look like change in your pocket. A new 240hp outboard costs around £10,000. You can pick any insurance advert in any of the boating mags. I'm glad you are responsable enough to take out insurance, for the damage you could do to other people, I don't like to think about. Unlike uninsured motorists there is no back up fund to bail you out. I have a sailing boat only has a 10hp inboard, much more sedate.
  19. Talk about a late entry! Looks as if I should be able to make after a change of plans. The zeds been snoozing in the garage for a couple of months, so it is time it had a bit of a shock. Won't have time to wash the cat paw prints which it is covered in, but I expect the rain will do that. See you at Pease Pottage
  20. The seatbelts work mechanically. If they do not roll up after been taken off then you probably have to replace them as they are difficult to repair in the long term. It is an easy job to do and can be purchased 2/h. There is nothing electical about them, the two wires go to the warning light in the dashboard, at least they do in mine.

I live on Hayling Island, perhaps us locals could meet up at some local pub to sink a few beers before Xmas.I'm away for the next two weeks in Goa but will around after that.
  22. It could be the solenoids which open and shut the valves to let the flow of water through not working. Probably have to replace them, rather you than me!
  23. My J spec tt's passenger seat belt has jammed fully extended and won't retract. I have tried poking it around with a knife etc but no joy. I was wondering if it is normally an easy fix or is a replacement the normal option. I'm told once they give trouble it will probably reoccure. My wife won't travel in the car with the belt like it is! Any ideas will be welcome.

Petey-- I bought my car from the Wembley area about two years or more ago and the lad who sold it to me said it had belonged to his brother and had come from the Newcastle area. It is also white in colour and had quite a lot spent on the brakes. It sounds like too much of a coincidence.

I think the Z31 is very underated. I've had two, still have. I used a 1985 turbo for two years which had a superb engine in it still capable of 0-60 in under 7 secs and pull up to 145 mph making BMWs etc really pissed off. Unfortunely the body rusted away. The other is a 1989 manual na face lift model. No where like the performance but a very comfortable high speed cruiser.
