Sorry mark, completly forgot to call you mate :( I want the car to be reliable well as reliable as it can be. I dont want the fatest zed as thats not really my game. Its for road use only, weekend blasts and meets. As its for road use ill never see over 100mph as i need my licence for my Job but as i deal with speed cameras too i know where they all are pretty much so its for low end speed rather then top end. I dont really have a budget tbh, Seeing whether this is a better route to take then buying outright as my money doesnt seem to cut it with most peoples cars so weighing up all the options.

Im not sure of the members that have done it dave mate, Do you know someone who has done the above? Good point about the parts aswell, didnt think of that. I wanted to split the costs up for just the engine rebuild and the cost of parts needed for a increase as i dont know how much or what id need. It makes more sense to get it done alltogether TBH :)

If i was to get hold of an engine, Im guessing it doesnt matter roughly what condition it was in. How much would i be looking at upgrading it and a full rebuild to run 450rwhp? What bits would i need to buy for this and what would someone charge to do this for me? So i mean, i supply the engine to someone, they rebuild it with the parts i supplied for the above power and then transplanted it into the car for me. Im trying to see if it would make sense money wise to do this and just get a mint shell compared to buying one outright. Thoughts please :D

Hi mate, This isnt a daily driver as i use a works van and the missis has her car so this is strictly for fun :) My son gets taken to and from school by her mother so its just for me. Ive never even been to a track or drag strip let alone use one so this is just for weekends and meets. As much as id love to throw over 10k at one and can... im hoping to get something for a bit less leaving me some reddies to play around with and pay the extra insurance. Youd be suprised at how many Zeds are out of my price range!!! Im trying not to consider anything else mate, Fell in love just over 6yrs ago after going in my bosses old automatic and dont want to buy anything else but if i cant get what im after then ill have to consider others.

After sleeping on it and looking at others today its not a car id go for TBH I do like the clean lines and the power which would be pure sex to have but as you say i still think that half of that bhp in a zed still makes the zed twice as much of a car. Doesnt have the road presence of a zed and again andys point about seeing 22 at one meet and only 2 zeds and at a guess one of those will have been his :rofl: shows how much exclusivity (*sp) these cars have. It was a nice thought but ive put up my new wanted post which im waiting for the hundreds of offers to come in from that and go for what i really want rather then then supra :)

The 700bhp supra im guessing isnt to nice to run at full power most of the time, unless its motorway use i cant see you putting much more the 400 through the wheels around town. Would still be amazing to have that power there if you want it :) Ive spoken to you about yours chris and will leave the ball in your court mate as per last PM as i know your still unsure which road you want to go down and i dont want to take a car from someone who still loves it as i can tell you do by our conversations. Just so you know si i wasnt having a pop at you not liking modded Zeds and i understand where your coming from as the cleaner the better from my taste too :) Making it look like a pumped up saxo does nothing for me, clean paint, clean body lines and a decent engine are more then enough for me. You have put some sweat into that engine aint ya?!? Must be nice to have it how you want as it stands let alone when J-Dixon gets hold of it. I know that must give the ultimate buzz having it built from your ideas and id love to do that one day but at the moment for the reasons above its not the route i want to take. Yours is a stunning example of a stock looking zed even though it isnt and ill have to have a look around yours on the lap day if you do make it up :) Ps: Im not slating big kits or other peoples zeds, just that i like what i like and dont want it to be taken as a dig.

You would think so wouldnt you :cry: I can fully understand why as id feel the same but some people ive spoken too dont realise that the mods you put on a car dont make you that exact cost back or in some cases anywhere near. I know this first hand as my golf had all the work done before we bought it and the mods and private plate cost in excess of 6k and we payed not much over that for it including a car thrown in :rofl: I had a chat with CJ, great bloke but im just off the mark, its had more thrown at it then my work has paid me for a long time so demands a performance car price and being in that exclusive top 3-4 cars in the uk warrents the cost. The power that the zeds put out compared to what other cars can isnt in comparison for the money it costs for amazing increases but thats not what the zed is about is it, Id rather have a zed then an audi or bmw, this is my second car so it doesnt have to make sense :D Im going to put up a new wanted post lowering the bhp wanted and maybe shoot for a SWB wide arch instead ;) Cant say too much yet as im not sure if it will work out and i dont know if the seller wants the info up here or not yet. Thanks Scott 17-Jan-07 A: HI Scott I `m not really looking for an astra but thanks for the offer. as for fuel consumption it all depends on how you drive, The car can be pr-set to 3 settings 500 - 600 - 700+bhp and the turbo is full adjustable, so if you don't kick in full boost all the time (which would be very hard to do on the road) it just like driving a standard supra but if you want to drive at 200mph then you eat the petrol (its well worth it though)

Id rather throw 10-12k at one thats done well, no big scarey basking shark body kits or graphics and so on as close to my taste as possible like that aussie blokes black one in the photos section, Thats the dream. I also loved that matt black zed in someone sig thats sold, cant remember who but it was stunning. Im going to see a 600bhp zed next weekend but as far as im aware its the engine thats had all the mods so will have to see how it goes as im after a middle of the road kind of zed which has a decent amount of all the 3 major jobs done but how can you turn down 600 ponies under your right foot?!?. If i went into building my own beast i could lose the 12k into just the engine without the shell and interior as so on :rofl: Ive spoken to one member off here thats put 7yrs into his car and a lot more money then ive ever had in my hands into it and couldnt sell it for anywhere near what it cost so that means huge savings for me and if the sacrifice i have to make is to put up with a interior thats not amazing then its more then worth it.

If it went for 15k for the power and work gone into it would make it a bargain if you could put up with the looks and parking next to the same car all the time. Im still looking for a zed but theres not much up for sale, Ive even been looking at 450bhp but again not much about. Started looking for SWB wide arch clean looking cars but still nothing. I know you need patience but thats not something im great with :mad: The amount of people thats replied to me about selling their cars then never bother getting back to you makes it all the more fun searching :rolleyes:
