  1. I am sure you will enjoy it, although I think you will have to wait until the spring to really start enjoying it. You may want a good read while you are waiting for Spring, and I can recommend Good Vibrations by Tom Cunliffe ( http://www.tomcunliffe.com/vibes.htm ). I have a T-bird ( http://www.300zx.co.uk/rides/geoff/bike1.jpg ) which also is a '95 manufacturer (but perhaps mine goes round bends a bit better?). As somebody quipped before - Triumphs have always leaked oil, and perhaps this one is no better judging by the picture? I went to the NEC, and there were a number of Harleys of all ages to view. It is the 100 year anniversary. (Have you heard the Kathy Mattea song [Harley])? Look forward to seeing the pictures. Enjoy the cleaning every weekend!!! :) Geoff
  2. Roy, This link on TwinTurbo.Net you may have seen before? http://www.twinturbo.net/ttnetfaq/FAQpages/bov.html Geoff
  3. I don't want to comment on any of the sentiments above. My comment is: Learning that Brunel was behind Princess Di in this poll, I immediately thought how could Brunel, who had achieved so many tangible things through a lifetime, be thought less than Princess Di (who helped advertise and endorse the work of others - hopefully believed strongly in the causes as well). My second thought was, what is a "Briton" - any thoughts? Fyi, Brunel was born in Southsea. His mother was English, and his father was a French engineer, who fled to this country during the French Revolution (French monarchist). Brunel (Isambard Kingdom) was educated both here and in France, and his apprenticeship was with Breguet. There must be something unforgivable about burning cakes!:D
  4. Hi, A couple of bits to add to the above. See these 2 links about HICAS on a 300ZX: http://www.300zx.co.uk/rides/geoff/hicas1.jpg http://www.300zx.co.uk/rides/geoff/hicas2.jpg My import is a 1994 ('95 series 3 model 2+0 TT) and has the electric HICAS, but it may well be that the UK spec (& other versions) did not have this feature until a later date? HICAS was an optional extra on the N/A, so there are a few about with it fitted. It can be eliminated, and Stillen has the part for a hydraulic locking system, and apparently you just need to take the fuse out on an electric version? If you search back, there are quite a few differing views about HICAS, but if kept, the important thing is to keep an eye on any wear in the "steering" mechanism. Geoff
  5. Sorry to bring this back to the top, but are there any other UK spec owners who could let me know what they have on their V5 in the Model/Type field? Thanks for your help, Geoff
  6. Gio, Thanks for the feedback. I was aware of this information but could not put my finger on the Model/Type value that DVLA use - can you confirm what this is? Is it "300 ZX TURBO SPORTS" as Andrew has kindly posted? Thanks, Geoff
  7. I would like some information on what valid entries you have on your V5. I am interested in the following 2 fields, and I have shown what I have on my V5: -Make: NISSAN; -Model/Type: 2-AXLE-RIGID BODY COUPE I am in contact with DVLA and they have kindly offered to change this to something appropriate, but do not have 300ZX as a keyword on their database - the suggestion was that the car perhaps was not sold in the UK. So I am particularly interested in knowing what you original UK spec owners have on your V5 - please can you help and let me know these 2 fields and confirming that your car is the UK model? Thanks, Geoff

  11. Pete, My import came through http://www.northwestimports.co.uk/ and they get my recommendation. From previous posts, I think a few other people have bought their Zs through NWI and been very please with the service and car (you can do a search to find these posts). Worth giving Ian Hazelar a call, but you can see a couple of 'older' Zs offered on their site. Good luck, Geoff

"Late" models (Series 3 and on) had a different manufacturers PTU fitted, and this was also made available under recall in the US (but not here) and normally supplied/fitted as the replacement part by Nissan UK. The later part is made by Mitsubishi (as confirmed in my Series 3 model) and a search in the old forums may well find the part number - I think it had a different suffix to the earlier problem part. A long winded story (sorry), but the unconfirmed piece of information is that it is the same part as fitted to the Mitsubishi GTO (GT3000) and available from a UK Mitsubishi dealer at a greatly reduced price to UK Nissan dealer. If one of the technical guys is able to confirm this, then this could be a quicker and equal cost alternative to ordering from the US? Hope this helps. Geoff
  13. Ah...(Clarkey's post)...what we need is a Stealth Kit for the Z! Any ideas on what this would look like? Does anybody remember those Lotus Europas with Mohair roofs? Geoff:)
  14. Hi Iain, Yes it has been ages. The kit has been sprayed up in its new colour and looks fantastic. It was returned from the bodyshop to the garage earlier this week, for the final bits to be sorted (window rubbers, etc..). Then back to the body shop for the front bumper to be fitted - they have adding some neat intercooler exits. Should have it back in "2 weeks" - it is always 2 weeks! I may have a couple of photos this weekend and will send them. I haven't progressed any of the things I asked you about (brakes, etc...). Thought it best not to add to the "2 weeks". Any news on the master cylinder/front strut brace idea? Cheers, Geoff

  17. Try this link: http://www.just-auto.com/news_detail.asp?art=39342&app=1 Range Rover (Ford) engine perhaps?
  18. Mike, Air in the system. Have you checked the fluid level in the master cylinder? This normally means you have a leak. Favorite is the seals in one of the slave cylinders (wheel caliper), then the master cylinder seals, then the rubber hoses......... It will only get worse and recommend you check for the leak, and fix immediately - if you have to take it to a garage then top up and keep pumping, and drive slowly when no traffic is about (assuming you don't want the garage to pick up your car). Take care. Geoff
  19. Hi Coogs, My garage in Kingston did mine, but it was part of a bigger job so I cannot give you the price. They had a few problems as the kit came without the documentation and the diff bush replacement is quite something. Since my car they have done a couple of other Zs with this kit. If interested I can give you their number, and I have the kit documentation as PDF files. Cheers, Geoff (Hey this is the first post on the new server. It's quite a bit different, and that's reminded me that I have not sent Craig my subscription yet!).
