  1. Hi Lee, I can only help from memory, as the cost is not itemized on my receipt. Anodizing was an extra £20 for the pair, and I was only interested in Blue (the colour of my car) and Clear. Not sure about the other colours, but think it was quite restrictive (Black and maybe one other?). The colouring is not an exact process, and I was warned that the range of Blue, that could be returned, varied (to do with the number of pieces in the batch etc...). Basically the colouring was available on the back of larger orders that were going through at the time (the anodizing is outsourced). It worked out well for me. It is a great shame that they largely go unnoticed (being so neat), as they are marvellous pieces of workmanship. ... Ciao, Geoff
  2. You can get them Anodized as well: (My camera is not as good as Macs).
  3. Bazz, Good luck with your shopping. Where are you going? Paul, I had this picture of being at traffic lights and either having to over-rev or face stalling the car. Its good to hear somebody's real life experience, thanks. (Help, I need to justify taking the engine out again!). Cheers, Geoff
  4. I went for the ASP Underdrive Pulley. I found this link which has a bit more information, but is not where I bought it: http://www.rpmoutlet.com/aspimp.htm#nissan I got it from Pheung at GRRacing. The ASP is widely use by a number of US Z owners who have clocked up good milages without trouble, from the research I did before buying. I did wonder about a lightened flywheel, but decided the Underdrive pulley had the advantage of not changing the drivability. There has been a number of articles about Harmonics and the lightened Pulley. I believe Beamers can suffer, but our Z (from the US posts) does not appear to have this problem. The Unorthodox pulley system has a greater weight saving, and I would see what you can find on the 300ZX US forums. Ciao, Geoff
  5. Oh you northern lot. Haven't you got street lamps yet? We have got plenty of those down south.......you can even see the lamp post! Civilisation will come to you soon. Geoff (ps I'm married to an alien!)
  6. Hi Shahid, Because my car was going to be off the road for some time I sent my ECU to JWT in California, where it was socketed, and both the stock and upgraded chip returned with the original ECU. As you can see in the following link, JWT also do an exchange basis, but I liked the idea of keeping my original ECU. http://www.jimwolftechnology.com/ecu.htm You may want to talk to some of the other guys about other options? My car: Although Braba keeps on telling me "2 weeks", I think he likes having it in his shop and talking about it. With your mods I was hoping your car could take its' place, so releasing mine!! This sounds like a good strategy to me - what do you think? (You don't have to reply). If okay, I may send you a PM about a couple of things (e.g. 3G & Porterfields, and I hear you are interested in an engine oil cooler)? Cheers, Geoff
  7. Yep, I have to own up - mine is the kitted car. I thought I recognised the spec/mods, saw the turbo post and Croydon reference, Dr Watson!!! I have yet to drive it with the JWT chip, but I decided to go the "safe" route and ordered the JWT direct from Jim Wolf in the States. Quite expensive with postage and all the taxes paid. I was a little alarmed at some of the stories I saw on various forums, and decided that I could forego a few potential additional bhp to remain with a safe and widely used chip. Having said that, I now know of enough members who are happily using other chips to say that you should consider the others as well (although I have not seen anybody have a good word for the 300ZX Superchip - so perhaps you should avoid this one?). The following link is an interesting read - skip down to the English first. http://www.twinturbo.de/jwt.php If you use the AltaVista translate of the German, it mentions an experience with Superchip. Ciao, Geoff
  8. I believe that JWT program the chip rich as increasing the fuel helps to keep the 'combustion/pistons cooler'. Its a safety measure to help stop the engine going bang on strong boost, when providing a generic chip for a range of unseen Zs. SE tune on the actual car, I believe, so presumably can individually tune for that car and thus run a leaner mix more safely. Shahid, is your car silver/platinum and in Kingston? Fyi, I have a JWT. Best regards Geoff
  9. I think I remember seeing that the US bhp measurement is slightly different to other parts of the world (a bit like US gallons). So the power of 'like' 300ZXs is the same, it is just that it calculates out to be 300bhp in the US, and 280bhp elsewhere. Can anybody confirm this? An interesting theory anyway!! Ciao, Geoff
  10. Hi Ice, I am sure we would all like to see a few pictures of your car. 30k must provide a mean machine? I have seen a number of recommendations for "Darren" a really good mechanic in Kent (possibly Dartford area?). I think it would be worth a little travel. I haven't got any details, but I am sure one of the other guys will give you the contact details (or try the forum "search"). Good luck, Geoff
  11. Found an interesting site: http://toy4two.home.mindspring.com/offset.html Feeding in :- Current Wheel Width 8.5" Current Wheel Offset 26mm New Wheel Width 8.5" New Wheel Offset 30mm Replied:- Your new wheel will have the following characteristics: The clearance from stut housing to the inside of the wheel will be 4mm LESS The outside edge of the wheel will RETRACT in towards the body by 4mm This implies DTMotorsport have done me a favour as the advertised 30mm offset (Azev site) would have the Spokes hitting the Caliper. Working through the following diagram also confirms this theory: http://www.comp.co.uk/pics/diagram_01_new.gif The mystery to me is why DTMotorsport did not explain this in any of my contacts? I hope this may help others. Geoff My thanks to those who have helped me with this. MAC1 confirmed he has 27mm (offset, that is!), and I see ChrisC also has this size (see his Brembo caliper post and picture). Ammar and I have 26mm (which should give us both another 1mm clearance from the front caliper).
  12. This link may help as well? Geoff http://www.twinturbo.net/ttnetfaq/FAQpages/tiresize.html
  13. Congratulations Craig. Best wishes to you all. Geoff

Very nice. Interesting wing mirrors as well - are they Veilside? Similar to the Strosek mirrors I think? Enjoy.... Geoff
  15. Hi Ammar, If you remove the centre cap you should see a coding that is stamped on the rim by the manufacturer, between the wheel nut holes - all the letters & numbers are made up by a series of dots. My fronts have A851826, 114.3N, ET26 - the coding is fairly obvious being type A, 8.5"J, 18" rim with 26 offset, then the wheel nut circumference 114.3, and the ET 26 offset again. Would be interested in knowing what you have. Fyi, the rears are A101818, 114.3N, ET 18 - I have 49mm spacers to position for the wide arches. Thanks to everybody for their help. Geoff
  16. Thanks Tony, I would estimate the clearance to the caliper is about 2mm, whereas the standard wheels had a clearance of about 5mm. I am right in thinking the ET 30 would have given me more clearance, am I? (The distributor was trying to tell me different). If I am correct then the ET30 would sit the wheel an extra bit out of the arch? (I must say the ET26 sits just right for me and not outside the top line of the arch). Geoff **** See later post - my assumption was not correct ****
  17. Just taken delivery of my Azev A's and they look good. I ordered an Offset of ET 30mm for the front (18" x 8.5"), but they have been delivered as ET 26mm. Azev's own site quotes 30 for our 300ZX and the distributor recommended this size (although now is saying all sorts of things and I'm not impressed - however the sizes/order was confirmed by fax). They have been offered up and do just clear the caliper. Any advice on what I should do, or check? The distributor is DT Motorsport, and they say they have just supplied a couple of other people on (this) forum - if you read this could you say or send me a PM? Thanks, Geoff

Is this the Mesh you are after? http://www.needforspeed.co.uk/rgmstyling/index.htm - Search by Part - Body Styling (Exterior) - Competion Mesh - ME6 I have this for a 'project' I was thinking about (but not yet progressed), although originally thought I would use it on the Z. You can contact NeedForSpeed - be warned the price excludes VAT & postage. I'm open to offers (location: Kingston), but not fussed about selling it, as I will most probably will use it. Somebody mentioned it is the same/similar as fitted to the UK Bentley - it is good stuff. Geoff
  19. I think I remember people buying it direct from Redline's UK distributor. There may be a mention in the old forum, but here are the details I noted: Delta Oil Europe (Linconshire) : 0147-686-1195 Geoff
  20. An update on the above. I feel a bit of an idiot - my only defence is that I have not got my car to double check these things easily, but this is weak! My thanks to Mac1, Topless and Vijay for tolerating me and their offers of help that got me through this. Although my car does not have an Engine Oil Cooler, the Oil Filter Bracket is identicle. This filter has a pressure valve and outlet/feed. The return is in fact in the side of the Sump (thanks Topless). On my car I have a short pipe from the Oil Filter Bracket to the Sump. On models fitted as standard with an Engine Oil Cooler, this Short Pipe is replaced by pipe runs to the nose of the car where an oil cooler is mounted. It is very tight under there, and so I have purchased the standard pipe runs to the nose and connected up to the Mocal oil cooler originally bought from ThinkAuto. My experiment with sandwich blocks, remote filters, etc.. came to nothing. I hope this may help somebody avoid the frustration I have been through. (The Forum came through for me). Ciao, Geoff
  21. Barry, The picture in your rides looks to be a NA rather than a TT? Geoff
  22. Hi Makis, I thought the Oil guage was quite good on our cars. It is normally the boost guage that people upgrade, and if additional guages wanted then it would be Water & Oil Temp. I assume the wiring, and sender, are okay and giving readings? I will watch out for your car in the locale (fellow KT post code). Geoff
  23. The version S was one of the grades/spec that was offered. In the last year 1999 there was the Version R which I think was the highest spec model, followed by the Version S, followed by the 'basic' 300ZX. The Version S was available in both the 2+2 and the 2+0 and both offered either in Turbo or NA guise. The 2+0 was only available (in 1999) as a manual, whereas the 2+2 was available either as manual or automatic. In earlier years there were also special Version S's - the "Ricaro" being one with Ricaro seats and different (Oz?) wheels. The Version S is effectively, I think, the delux version to the bread-and-butter 300ZX. The Version R the super delux, I believe. Ciao, Geoff
  24. Hi sb007, You may be lucky, but you should perhaps prepare for UK 17.5% VAT, 6% Import Duty, and an admin 'tax/duty collection charge' (I have paid £5-£14 for this) to be added to your "bargin price" and payable at delivery. Still good though. Best to be prepared (dib, dib, dib. dob, dob, dob!!!!!!) Geoff
  25. I need help. Can anybody help supply a Oil Filter Bracket (Part # 15238)? See attached schematic. My import 2+0 TT Manual does not have an Engine Oil Cooler as standard. The UK spec and other import versions do. The bracket/housing for the Oil Filter, on my car, does not have the inlet and outlet for the feeds to an Engine Oil Cooler Rad, and so I am after one (from a broken engine perhaps). I have tried various solutions with ThinkAuto, but none work out as safely and cleanly as the Nissan solution. I also have a query out to Courtesy (the Nissan UK price is silly). Please help if you can. Thanks, Geoff
