AZEV Alloy Wheels
The AS wheels can be made with an offset of 30mm to 45mm (see http://www.azev.de). I believe you will see a punched stamp on the rim stating the offset they have been machined to. There are some (purpose built) spacers that Azev produce for a number of their wheels (e.g. the C & M types), and it may be worth talking to DTMotorsport on 01708-630528 (the UK distributor). Hope this helps? Fyi, my type As (18") are meant to be delivered this week from DT Motorsport (great price). Geoff

ZX width
I think Mike must have a 2+0 at 1790, while the 2+2 is slightly wider at 1800mm. This does not appear to cover the mirrors, but I assume you can fold these in on all models? Geoff

Import Engine Oil Cooler mod - anybody done this?
Has anybody done this modification, or can anybody put me in touch with someone who has? Unlike the UK car, my import 2+0 TT does not come standard with an Engine Oil Cooler and I would like to understand how the modification is done. Fyi, I have tried a number of bits from Think Auto, but nothing I have tried is a perfect solution. I am wondering if the UK adapter/housing can be used on my import engine block, etc... Really would like to talk to somebody who has done this mod for their engine. Thanks, Geoff

Spark Plugs
Hi Mark, It was the UK spec plug for a TT (-11c) & set as per the manual (I assume - done by garage). Upon import, the car was set up for UK fuel on a dyno with the original plugs (-11). Shortly after I had a 60,000 service done for peace of mind, and quickly after started have the problem discribed, until the plug spec was changed back to the Japanese spec plug. Ciao, Geoff

Spark Plugs
Dan, My two-penny-worth is recommending you do a bit of research if considering switching. I have a '94 TT import and had quite a bit of trouble when I switched away from the Japanese standard PFR6B-11 - would not pull in higher revs (missing). It was cured by reverting back to the same type as original. I thought I would be safe going for the UK type plug, but this proved not to be the case for my car. Ciao, Geoff

Wheel Shopping
Dave, I see Azev have a new wheel out, and it may be close to the styling you are looking for? Motionstyling were recommended in the above posts, but I can also recommend the Azev UK distributor - DTMotorsport (John Cannon on 01708630528) who gave me a very good price on the A's, but delivery viz pick-up may close the gap. Did I get the styling right? Geoff

Higher Watt Head Light Bulb Advice
Hi Stuart, I have run with 60/55w Xenon bulbs and found the 'high performance brilliance headlight bulb' a very good upgrade - it is much brighter (and safer) on both dip and main. As we know, the performance of the standard bulbs are not adequate, and the Xenon bulb upgrade is a very cheap and worthwhile safety improvement. I got mine from Halfords. (Having an import, I soldered the extra wire on). I've been a bit weary about increasing the wattage, and have seen a few posts about people having the wiring overheat/melt - is this what the extra earthing overcomes (apologies, I cannot remember my physics)? The new technology in bulbs also provides a better bulb for driving through rain - may come in handy when in Wales? Geoff

Has Paul Bailey lost his way?
The first photo shows one of the initial cars produced (a 2 seater wide arch) and PB's 'catelog' shows the car with a number of different rear spoilers. I have to agree, I don't like the spoiler in the photo but some of the others look good. The second photo is actually PB's race car, so I guess that spoiler is more in keeping with its use. Finally, the following link has some information about Paul: http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=18509

How many cars have had full body kit or plan on kit
Trevz - you have the full Paul Bailey kit for a standard arch 2+2. It is heavily influenced by the Strosek design (front and rear bumpers, etc..), but Strosek I believe are metal panels, whereas the Paul Bailey panels are fibreglass and evolved for the various 300ZX/Fairlady-Z models. I appear to have 7 photos of your car that I received from Paul Bailey, if you would like these (send me a PM)? Geoff

The mesh I have not used was from these people - ME6.

portafield pads
I don't know anything about these people, but noticed Porterfield pads offered for a 300ZX. http://www.whifbitz.co.uk/300zxbrakes.htm Their site notes "UK distributor for Porterfield brake pads". Has anybody tried them?

good source for stainless grill mesh
Nah........... The Kinks........ (much better than Barry Manilow) Lola: "Walks like a woman, talks like a man......." written by Ray Davies. I have got some SS mesh for my car, but there wasn't enough to use it as I wanted to, and I ended up with B&Qs finest. It was quite expensive, as it is fitted to Bentleys, etc... If you are interested I can get the dimensions, and you can make me an offer if suitable. ......"You really got me, Dedictated follower of fashion, Sunny afternoon, Waterloo sunset, Well respected man............." I can't get the Kinks sound out of my mind now.......... (Interestingly the mesh is with my car at a garage, also in Kingston). Geoff

r33/34 callipers
Does anybody know about these people? Are they worth a try? http://www.godspeedbrakes.fsnet.co.uk/ I am not sure about the R33/34 2ndhand caliper prices, but my impression is that by the time you get discs and pads, the price is not far off. Are there different spec Brembo calipers, and perhaps these are not an equivalent to the Skyline? (I think I have seen a post recommending the Porsche calipers before for the Z - http://www.godspeedbrakes.fsnet.co.uk/4_pot_conversions/Porsche_Brembo/Porsche_b.htm ).

Washer jet - Non return valves
Hi Alex, Some info that may help, if you are still struggling? I also tried to buy these from my local Nissan dealer. They could not supply replacement Nissan parts but did give me another manufacturers. The same but slightly different body shape. They are made by Powertrain Products, Greenbridge Rd, Swindon, Wilts SN3 3LB - Non-return valve 3/16" (4mm) Part No. PEWP27 Interestingly the dealer could not find the part on their fiche (FAST CD), and I can confirm this, it is not shown. I printed them a page from the Maintenance Manual (see FAQ - interactive manual EL-88) http://www.300zx.co.uk/cgi-bin/manual.cgi?list=el&dir=&config=&refresh=&direction=forward&scale=0&cycle=off&slide=88&design=default&total=133 ...and thats when they came up with, and supplied from, an alternative source. (I should add that the picture is from a 2+2, and like you I have a 2+0 - no difference I believe when talking about the "check valves"). Geoff

Bodyshop within 100 miles of Bristol???
Paul (Bailey) has always been difficult to get hold of, but I had an email from him a couple of weeks ago. He has been seriously ill, and I am sure we all wish him a speedy recovery. I don't know if it helps, but I have an old contact number for the person who does his fibre-glassing. I don't know if it is still valid, but if you want to try it then send me an email/Private message. Ciao, Geoff

MK4 Supra TT vs 300ZX TT
I was lucky enough to have one of the original Sierra Cosworths from new for 4 years. It was a great car (not to be confused with the family models). Midway through my "Sierra" ownership I saw one of the first 300ZXs, and thought one day! I also had a Imprezza Turbo for a few years, before the Z. Interestingly, I rate the Cossy ahead of the (UK spec) 4WD Imprezza. I feel that both are ahead of my Z for handling though. But I just love the Z...... What is the handling of the Supra like? Like most, I did wonder about the Supra and 3000GT, but I was already won over by a Fairlady!!

full metal radiator - group buy ?
Hi Warren (& Craig?), Can I ask about this group buy? Do I understand this correctly? :- A solid (no plastic ends) thicker Ali radiator - just water cooling (e.g. larger Manual spec - not split oil/water for an Auto)? If I understand this correctly, can I put my name forward, or am I too late to be included? Thanks, Geoff

group buy for tomei pistons anyone interested?
Thanks Eric, you are right it was JUN, and not Tomei. Apologies for my memory, but perhaps it started a good lead for the guys? Interestingly I have been thinking about a Wiseco piston for my Yamaha Enduro bike. They also have a place here in the UK, down in Swanley, Kent - see http://www.wiseco.co.uk - their price list gives a price for our engines too. Geoff

group buy for tomei pistons anyone interested?
I am not absolutely sure, but I think I heard some time ago, that these pistons are made by Cosworth in Northampton. If that is so, perhaps there may be a better outlet (e.g. no import duty concern, etc...). I thought I would mention it, but apologies if my memory is letting me down (and misleading you). Geoff

UK Spec Rear Shocks.
Inquirying for a mate. Where is the best place to get the Rear Shocks for a UK spec? Apparently the dealer price given to him is very high, and there may be another outlet? I assume they are Tokico with an adjuster (driven by a stepping motor attached to the handbrake switch). Is there anywhere recommended here in the UK? I guess he could go to the US (assuming the spec is the same). Thanks, Geoff
