  1. I have a 1990 TT and have a hissing noise when pressing down the clutch peddle, coming from, it would seem the clutch pedal area. I thought it may be the clutch booster, but I have pulled the vacuum hose off in the engine bay and capped it at the manifold, but the hissing is still there. Only does it when pressing the clutch peddle. If I keep the clutch peddle pressed in about an inch or so it will continually hiss in that area until I push it all the way down or release it when the noise goes away. Doing my head in trying to figure out what it could be, any ideas ?
  2. Few sorted, was the coil pack and spark plug on number 5 ?
  3. Hi Guys, Had a lot of misfiring in my 1990 TT and narrowed it down to a couple of injectors gone bad, so I replaced them all with series 2 and redid the connectors. Seemed to run better but still 1 cylinder was missing. Narrowed it down to number 5 by pulling coil connector and number 5 didn't change the engine note. Checked injector and seems to be firing, checked the coil pack resistance and all good. The coil pack connectors are new and spliced in. On this particular coil pack, no 5, with the connector removed and ignition on I get 12v on middle pin and 10-20 mv on the outside pin, but on all the others I get 12v from centre pin and exactly .5 mv on the outer pin ! I presume this is the problem but not 100% sure how to fix it, any advice would be appreciated muchly ?
  4. Thats quite a nice idea, I'll give that a go when I get the pulley but will also try my standard pulley and belts to get a feel for it and if it matches. Once I work out the correct belts and they all fit and work i'll post the results for others !
  5. I haven't received the Pulley yet, but while I was waiting I thought I would get the correct belts, but I may have to wait until I get it and fit it and see, I have the standard size Gates belts, PAS 4PK925, A/C 4PK965, ALT/WP 4PK1038 but I believe the PAS stays the same and the other two are different lengths, but we shall see :) The belts listed on ATI's site is for US models and has a 4PK1010 standard ALT belt but with ATI is is increased to a 4PK1015 so by my reckoning I need a 4PK1043 going byt hat logic, but I will fit the pulley and measure and post up so everyone can see what they need if they get one 2 :). Whats the best way to measure and where from to please ?
  6. Hi Guys, I have just purchased the Super ATI Race Damper Crank Pulley. Mine is a UK Twin Turbo and I am trying to source new belts for it. The PAS are the same as standard but states it needs a 4pk975 for AC and 4pk1015 for ALT/WP. As mine is a UK it has slightly different belts to the USA ones, longer I believe. Does anyone know the correct size belts for a UK Twin Turbo with a Super ATI Race Crank Pulley ? I thought 4PK925 is the same across the board for PAS, 4pk965 was UK AC and 4pk1038 was the ALT/WP, so what do I need for mine ? Thanks, Olly.
  7. Nah I think it's leaking right near the high pressure connector next to the battery as the gas sniffer is picking up a leak there and previous owner has put some tape around it there.
  8. Hi Guys, I have searched everywhere but can't seem to find anywhere to get the high pressure air con line that runs from the firewall to the recevier drier, the american ones (concept Z etc) are for left hand drive and are different (unless im mistaken ?), so does anyone know where I can get one for sensible money ? Thanks, Olly.
  9. Hi Guys, Just managed to lean on my passenger side windowscreen scuttle panel and snapped it clean off. Anyone got an intact one for sale. I don't mind if its faded as long as its complete as I would spray it satin black anyways to match my drivers one :). Thanks, Olly.
  10. Funnily enough, on looking at the board the latest subject was new clutch and flywheel and thats the one you recommended and everyone agrees (or most do). I may bite the bullet even more and go with the Specialty Z/RPS Street Max clutch as well, I already have the upgraded fork kit. Cheers guys.
  11. Right, I have taken off new starter and tested both the new and old one and both throw out all the way and spin no problem. Had a proper look at the flywheel and it does look like it is ground down a little on the leading edge that the starter would first contact in a couple of places. I think I need to bite the bullet and get a decent flywheel. So, what would be a good recommendation for a decent lightweight flywheel please ?
  12. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NISSAN-300ZX-300-ZX-FAIRLADY-Z32-3-0-TWIN-TURBO-1990-1995-STARTER-MOTOR/283181153032?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649 So, could well be the starter even though it looks brand new. I might try what Funkysi said and remove it and test it a number of times off the car and examine what it is doing. If it is the starter, where can I get a goodun ?
  13. I replaced it with a reconditioned Nissan 1, it all looked brand new and the same part number as I took off, but I might take it off and test it as Funksi says just to see if it is throwing out and how far, it does seem to get worse when it is hot though which is strange. It doesn't do it everytime but 1 in 4 starts it will do it and then it will take 3 or 4 goes of screeching before it catches again !
  14. Deffo not belts, this happens before even turning the engine over, I think the starter is not engaging the flywheel properly, and although i have installed a new battery and starter, i think I may have damaged the flywheel with the old starter not throwing out properly. May have to bite the bullet and get a new, better flywheel.
  15. Prolite, I know its a cheapy and my bad, I did think flywheel may be damaged but didn't look like it when I took the old starter off and looked through the hole !
  16. HI Guys, I have a1990 Twin Turbo and for the last few weeks, occasionaly when you try to start it, it makes this horrible screeching noise, just like if the engine was already running and you turn the key again (don't ask how I know this https://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/images/icons/icon7.png) I recently had a new light weight flywheel fitted and all was well for a few weeks and then this started happening. It didn't do it all the time, just occasionally. I fitted a new battery and it still did it, so I have now replaced the starter motor and it is still doing it. Any suggestions, as I am at a loss ?
  17. I feel your pain and had exactly the same leak, just after I had fitted the new clutch and put the transmission back on :hammer: Its the rear rubber water pipe about 6" Long that runs from the Turbo hard metal pipe up the rear of the engine and connects to another hard metal pipe that continues up the rear of the engine to another rubber pipe at the top. Firstly, what a pain in the backside it was to change. My first advice would be if you have a pressure tester or someone who does, then remove the battery and it's tray and pressurise the system. Put your hand in between the air con pipes and the block where the battery was and you will feel the rubber hose I am talking about and it's probably wet. I was able to get some very small pliers behind there and get the pipe off and replaced but it was hours of fiddling. If you can get the gearbox off easily then it's a piece of cake to change, but it can be done without dropping the trans.
  18. Each to their own Funkysi, I like to be different :tongue_smilie: I love the bodykit and have never seen one on another zed or cannot find it anywhere on the web, so its staying. It has been fitted well but the paintwork needs a little going over as a few marks here and there, just wear and tear chips etc. It does have "Hiro" embeded in the sideskirts so could be a Japanese kit. Just going over what extras it has, but from what I can make out, aftermarket dump pipes, de-catted, and unknown exhaust tails, mushroom filters, manual bleed valves (although set to or at least runs standard boost, confused), blitz dump valves. Boost Gauge and voltmeter and 18" Nissan Wheels. Coilover suspension and uprated front grooved and drilled disks. It has done 68,000 miles with full history and I am the 3rd owner. I am going to do a full service, oils, cambelt, fluids etc to make sure its all reliable and hopefully do the deletes, carbon can etc. Stay tuned :)
