Try wiggling the temperature sensor (left connector of the two tapped into the shiny water pipe at the front of the engine) while the engine is running. Its common for these to get full of cack etc and produce these symptoms. If wiggling it round caused stumbling and fan on/off then thats the problem, it needs cleaning or changing (cheap from http://www.courtesyparts.com or mike feeney in the traders section). Otherwise a general cleanup using a file and/or connector cleaner it the first place to start. And its cheap ;) Pete

Occasionally I get the following things happening which I want to fix ;) 1. HICAS light on 2. ABS light on 3. Heavy steering 4. Speedo either drops to 0kph or 180+mph. Then later in the journey everything will sort itself out. The speed sensor was changed (according to service history) last year, but these symptoms point to a fault with it dont they? The problem happens in wet near 100% and occasionally in the dry too (this morning). I've read that the SS is located on the underside of the gearbox - can I access this from underneath using axle stands? I should check the wiring and connections I suppose? Cheers folks Pete

No I mean one that simply displays eg "3" in LEDS if you're in 3rd gear.
