99spec Slicktop...
Found a 1999 Slicktop Manual in Japan with 23000 KM's on the clock.. looks mint. I keep hearing on this site, that it won't pass SVA... but with no engine mods.. can't imagine it would be a problem. Unfortunately will cost around £11K to get in in my drive with plates/MOT.. Recon that is ridiculous?? considering a Slicktop over here ( that is 6-9 years older ) go for £5K Snap it up?? or 'a fool and his money' for considering?? On a more serious note: How do I copy/paste pictures into this Thread??

Latest Model SWB / Slicktops ... 99 J-spec, NA conversion?
Didn't it only cost about £500 for the SVA? Did you bring yours over before the laws got more strict? Very nice car,, but I'm going for a SWB. :(

Latest Model SWB / Slicktops ... 99 J-spec, NA conversion?
Ok! I knew about the SVA requirement as I've brought over about 10 cars,, but a few years ago. I know Modifications are a no-no now.. but didn't realize that it would be this difficult. Probably limit my search to a '96. Unless someone can tell me different. This is probably good news as a my friend has been finding 98's - 2000 for £6K - £12K depending on mileage.

Latest Model SWB / Slicktops ... 99 J-spec, NA conversion?
I'm having a friend of mine in Japan who's in the trade, source a latest model 2-seater / ideally slicktop that he can find as I need an everyday driver. so here's a few threads in one.. Does anyone know what year they made these until? I've heard about 99-j-spec's having different lights, fenders etc... anything else? (what year did they make these special models until?) Anyone else interested? unfortunately, it's going to be pricey.. and considering the recent massive downward trend in Z-prices.. it might look silly, but I'm going to go for it anyway. I'll post a thread at some point with a snap-shot of what the Japanese Market has on offer; for all you SWB enthusiasts. Considering a NA as they are cheaper and then dropping a TT lump in? should I have any reservations?? anything else that I need to consider if I'm going to do this conversion?

What is a rebuilt Block with Forge Pistons worth after you've done it?
Thanks Kirbz. I leave for the good ole US of A on Sunday but am back in mid July. I'll hang on to this lump for a while/ have a compression check done, check the turbine plates etc. I'll come back to you later in July. I bought the Zed off Japanese ClubMan circuit.. it had a lot of trophies and the owner was bummed to sell it.. Lots of mods.. Like Custom Exhaust, Custom Prop-Shaft, Diff, Roll bar... but, the car is Hammered.. the HKS intercoolers are pretty smashed and it drives like a car on ice... :( I'll update you in a few weeks.

Reading other thread more carefully. Actually, Considering "does not include all the electrics ie, cas, det sensor, 02's, plenum, flywheel, clutch, throttle bodies" and for that fact, a compression test hasn't been done.. (which will always put a question around parting with hard earned cash ) Mine might not sound so bad... even it it isn't nearly as "pretty" to look at.

After looking at that Thread, I better get straight on the phone to my portfolio manager Thanks!

What is a rebuilt Block with Forge Pistons worth after you've done it?
I just bought a new Toy, and am thinking about cutting my losses on the last Project; it's a SWB. OHH BOY!! Doesn't this sound like fun Now! :xxx: (It was a track car and although has many upgraded bits.. it's had a hard life, I'm told, & does feel pretty darn "loose" on the drive ) I fitted Forged Pistons @ a parts cost of something like £900.. am thus probably into the engine for around £2500 on the rebuild. Now Undecided whether to sell or if the loss is too great.. just hang on to and have it built up to a higher spec and transplant into another SWB at some point. ((( Which means it will most likely Sit in/at a Garage for a long, long time :headvswal I've been told I could get around £1000 for the Block without the Turbos. I was bummed at the time,, but it's starting to sound reasonable this a.m. ** If the compression test points to this as a very solid build.. What sort of money should I expect to get for it ? It Has upgraded IHI turbos on it. ( I know, you've never heard of them! At any rate, They're Bigger! ) I figure these are worth £500+ on their own? Parting out a car... ugh.. just can't get excited about the thought....

My Beast of a 300ZX is now on Rides Section..
The guy I bought it from was a Body Shop professional.. has put a lot into it.. when first saw the pics... wasn't sure about the spoiler.. but in person.. it fits very well on this purpose built ride. It has the Round "stillen" type lights.. which I never liked.. but as they are built in.. would take a lot to change.. I'll put more pics on.

Some mightly fine work looks to have gone into your Ride Kirbz. Guess that's what I get for calling out, huh.. I'll be at Nurburgring 07.. so maybe I'll have a better chance... although I've got clever computer gadgets to keep my boost / Revs up.. don't immagine it would be too close in a straight line... Mighty fine spec.

300 ZX that was on Ebay - Highly Modified. What did you see under the hood ?
Wow,, Mr. Vigilante, huh... quick judgements on things you think you know a lot about. ;) Nope, no expectations, just wanted to introduce myself and be friendly as it's a small Island we are on. did enough checking to know It was the real McCoy.. but go ahead, verbally send me to the gallows if it scratches an itch.

I'll get Pics together over the weekend and get it on the Rides Section ( I don't care if people want to have a go at the rear wing.. don't care at all..) A very Tight ride. Feels like a brand-new auto. I went through and added up all the receipts when I got home. Between April 99 - Fall 2004 :: just over £42,800 + the £10,300 he bought the car for in March '99. He also at one point said something like it would have cost a fortune to do the body work he personally did on it. Can't believe he sold it for a song? Super nice, genuine, guy and his wife made me sandwiches for the drive home. I don't think it is practical for everyday use. get's pretty warm in the cockpit.

Yep, Didn't see your Thread.. did see you put your car up for sale,, but didn't connect the dots between Royalwithcream and Royal ??? fecking idgiot.. At any rate with the £30K+ he could invested over the years, I'm not bummed at the £8600 tag. May have felt a little guilty 'nicking it at £7500 anyhow. Now I just need to sort out that rear-end.. and find a MoTech specialist. err,,, uhh.. the £70... sort you out with a beer and hotdog at some show?

Yes, This one is a SWB. I will do it justice. Taking it to Z-Tech on Thurs.

Some Club member spent a few hours giving this car a good going over today (including Computer link-up) and I was wondering was your Diagnosis was? Sorry to make a last second bid to take it, If it's any consolation I put a ridiculously high bid to secure a win over any Sane enthusiast. And did imply to the owner early on that this would be the case. It's a done deal, but wondered if you could give me a heads up on what you found. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NISSAN-300ZX-...bayphotohosting. Many thanks and watch this space.

Good 300ZX Shop / or specialist in the Berkshire Area??
Hello, I'm going to start fine tuning and boosting a project 300ZX I'm put quite a few squid into already. Can anyone make a recommendation for the Berkshire sort of area. I'll be looking for trouble shooting some nagging issues in the beginning, then moving on to boosting up to around 18 -20 +psi (Already have the hardensteel in the lump, + all the engine management, uprated coolers and turbo's, paddle clutch, and loads of other stuff already ) I need to get Installed the 2nd half of the Bushing set I bought from good ole' Luke. Probably a new set of Teins ( mine look shot ) Probably need access to a rolling road, for the heavy boosting, advise me on aquamist not. etc. Unfortunately I'm worried I'm looking at another £3 - £5K before it's running sweet... Hoping someone can point in a good, Safe-pair-of-hands direction rather than the most advertised & expensive Hourly shop rate in the South East! Though, having said that,, better to get it done right the first time? Many thanks

I have a 300ZX engine that Gavin was hand-building up for me. American Forged Pistons, IHI Turbos, larger coolers, Greddy-Emanage, Controllers, Paddle Racing Clutch, Lightened Flywheel, Propshaft, racing straight through exhaust... the list could go on & on. A phone call a couple of weeks ago revealed that Gavin is now gone. Very, very sad day. People often say these things when friends pass... but Gavin was one of the nicest, most genuine guys I've met in my many years spent in many places.. People who knew him will know what I'm talking about. His fairlady was earth shaking. He was running a £28,000 NASCAR engine in it. I think he said it had 680 ... or was it 860 Horsepower at the flywheel. When it ran the 11... it wasn hardly tuned and the transmission wasn't geared right ( it was his first outing ) Once he put the Nitro on and tuned it properly he was planning under 9 Seconds. as he said with what I found to be a trademark quiet smile. http://www.john-sleath.com has it now.. is getting it ready for another pass. check the site and then you might start to believe the sub 9 secs.. as Gavin did a lot of work on the audi.. pics to be posted soon... Not the cleanest of engine bays... but the muscle is all there..
