The papers and news websites are making a big deal of the fact he was doing 159 mph, however that was on an empty motorway at night. In my opinion the far more serious offence (is that moustache lol) is the fact he was doing 91 in a 30 zone and imho that is inexcusable!

I bought my first car when I was 18 (in 1988), it was a Capri 2.0s and it cost me £600 tpft for only 6 months, but it was worth it! I was in the Army and single with no bills to pay. If its what you really want to do then fine go for it but it might not be the wisest choice.

The "older" 8v vaux engines were "run safe" the the "newer" 16v however are not.

can you not get the arches "rolled" to give a bit more clearance?

You never know you might have gotten away with it, I did when the belt snapped on my Vectra as I was pulling away from a set of lights.

You`ve just got to wait for the cam and crank sensors to go now - lol, also the HG on the Ecotec engine is renowned for going at around 80k miles although mine never did.

I got bored with the "drinking myself to death" thing when I was younger. Though I still like a drink I limit myself to Friday nights only now. Plus going to work with a hangover out here in this heat is a complete no-no
