  1. If you follow the pipe that holds the temp senders, towards the block, there are two rubber hoses that go into the block, they are quite often the culprit! Mark
  2. Hello Mate, I have to agree with you! We had a HKS filter on the engine we pulled apart to rebuild! The filter looked like it hadn't been changed for a while, but when we pulled the turbos out, the fins of the impellers had small dents in them where dust particles had hit them at 100.000+rpm they rotate at! I must admit my one was worse than the one in your picture! Mark Macca I won't blame this one on Irridium plugs:D :D
  3. Vote Duffman!
  4. Hi Rodney, Glad to see another convertible owner on the forum, I was feeling lonely. I am in the middle of changing my convertible from an NA to a Twin turbo at the moment. Maybe we should form our own forum and leave all the targa top scum to wallow in the mud :D :D :D
  5. The reason why northern house prices have risen is that southerners are buying the houses! This is part of a gradual plan so that the North will eventually be the South's BITCH! You know it makes sense!!!!!!:D :D :D
  6. There seems to be two lines of thought! 1. The irridium can take more heat, therefore it will last longer, but it delivers the spark at the wrong point in the chamber, potentially having a loss of bhp, fuel economy and increasing the risk of detonation, along with an increase in chamber temperature! 2. The 11B that will deliver the spark at the right point in the chamber, giving greater BHP, fuel economy, cooler chamber temp, but there maybe a greater increase in the wear of the plug(alledgedly) but I think most people on here who run larger bhp would check their plugs at least every 20,000 miles! BTW if you still have your heart set on Irridiums get Denso's they are cheaper and make the plugs for HKS! John they set the 11'B's to.92mm in the states if that is any guideline!
  7. Sorry Anders, The experience of most people on TT.net says otherwise, and they are big boost/bhp cars, sure I agree the materials they are made from are superior! But it is of no use if they deliver the spark at the wrong location in the chamber!
  8. PFR6B-11B aren't stock plugs Macca! They are about 4mm longer then 11C's (the stock plug) and therefore 5mm longer than Irridiums! Maybe one of the reasons your plugs were badly worn was detonation (there are some types you can't audibly hear) or preignition, causing damage and/or overheating in the chamber! The reason they have a longer reach on them, is that as you increase the boost there is more turbulence in the chamber and obviously a stronger need for the spark to occur in the middle of the combustion chamber!
  9. There are too many parameters to conclude whether it would be safe or not! We have 95 octane here, but most people recommend using 98.6 octane shell fuel! One advantage you might have in Iceland is that the intercoolers might run cooler than here in the UK, LOL!
  10. Ummmmmm, Why do you think EGt's are more useful? The thing is a lot of people on here seem to modify their Z at least once a year, so having the ability to tune their own car could be beneficial!
  11. So thats what you been up to!!!!!!!!! Have you got the NA pistons in there? I presume it would be posible to synchronise the wide band O2 the wide band to run with this set up?
  12. Andy, Completely agree with you apart the above point, if you look at the reach of the 11B plug it is much longer than the 11C, if you look at the reach of an Irridium it is even shorter than the 11C, so much so it is virtually hidden by the spark plug shroud in the chamber! If someone wants to send me an old Irridium plug, I will take some photos of all three plugs sitting in the chamber, as I have a couple of stock heads at the workshop!
  13. Thanks Eric, An oversight on my part there, I took it for granted that folks would realise you would need a fuel air controlling medium to alter them! Is there any news when the Zemulator will be out and can it work in conjunction with conzult?
  14. Hi Lymon, Nice to see you back where you been? Would you run stock turbos above 1 bar? Don't tell Steve E the new Apexi has bugs:eek: Mark
  15. Hi, I am not a complete expert on this so other people please jump in! Willie the wide band O2 sensor is as far as I can make out the most accurate way to tune your car, if you have one of these then you can mix the air and fuel to the optimum ratio! The car will get more MPG as requested LOL, and more BHP!!!!!! No more visits to get your car retuned when you have added another mod, the only other consideration when you have set it up, is detonation. If for whatever reason the car is detting then you have to use more fuel to cool the chamber!!!! I am not organising the group buy, what I will do is send Bernie the link to give him some sort of gauge of interest!! BTW the price is probably gonna be $3-400 depending on numbers, my mistake! Also Steve E has met Bernie and he runs a 600+bhp Z which he got taken for a spin in, nice to know we are not dealing with an anonymous figure!!!!! Mark
  16. 11B's are the plug Nissan commisioned NGK to make for tuned Z's 11C's are for completely stock cars! Irridiums are made for some other car but Denso who are the same as HKS plugs, save themselves a few quid and say they are for Z32's as well!!!!!!!!! If I was paranoid I would think this thread was created to get me going:D
  17. Lets take into account here that Jap motor had a speed limiter on it! Even Nissan America acknowledge the admin error of prescribing NA plugs for a TT! List of countries recommending PFR6B-11B Australia New Zealand USA Switzerland, even they broke their Neutrality UK

Hello Mate, I live down the road from you, if you need a hand give me a shout! Mark
  19. Enquired about these sensors on TT.net the other day and got a reply from this gentleman who is hopefully organising a group buy in the near future! I believe the price range will be 300ish dollars and hopefully we could get a couple of sensors and a switch to check each bank! Here is his email! Hi, guys. This O2 sensor works just as well as or better than FJO or Motec systems... it has much more user functionality and features and is less than half the price of other systems. Here's some info on the wideband unit... 1) It will utilize the Bosch LSU-4 5 wire sensor, which is cheaper, easier to replace, and more readily availble than the NTK L1H1 sensor used by other companies. It is practically impossible to find a NTK sensor nowadays... and replacements run in the $300-400 range... whereas the Bosch ones run $100-150ish. 2) It comes with a great data logging unit that logs rpm, A/F, and 2 additional user selectable inputs (I'm going to hook mine up to boost and maybe timing). You can log anything that puts out a voltage... like maybe some EGT gauges or fuel pressure gauges, etc. It is available in both PC and Palm versions! 3) Comes with a LED display that shows the A/F ratio and a series of LEDs to indicate lean/rich status. 4) You don't need to weld an extra bung into your exhaust because it will REPLACE a stock O2 sensor (there's extra circuitry that converts the wideband voltage output to corresponding stock O2 sensor voltages, so the stock ECU can use the wideband O2 sensor). I don't know about you guys, but for me, this alone sells me on the unit. I don't have the time to take my exhaust system off, try and find a good exhaust shop, and hope that they weld a bung on properly, and then put my exhaust back on. It's much easier to just remove a stock O2 sensor, and throw in the wideband. 5) The unit does free-air recalibration adjustments in order to get very precise readings as oxygen sensors are known to lose calibration over time. 6) Currently, we're working with the manufacturer to get possible on-board RAM so that you don't need to keep a laptop or palm pilot hooked up to datalog... just do a run and download it later. Other possibilities include USB support (currently it hooks up to a serial port). These are still in the works though and not certain if it will go through or not. The current versions that are already in production use the NTK sensor, but since the NTK sensor is so scarce now, it is being upgraded to use the Bosch sensors. The ETA for production is sometime in May/June, and once I beta test a unit, we'll be ready to start the group buy. Bernie
  20. Must admit I agree with PaulC, won't be of much use unless you are going for bigger tubs!! I recently had a conversation with one of the suppliers of the new Apexi AFC, he said you can programme into it the injector size and then you go and get it tuned, alledgedly it is all meant to work hunky dory! The JWT 555 chip can run too rich, so having an AFC could be useful! Surely there must be something else to make your car go faster? I don't think the 555's will!
  21. Hi Andy, The PFR6B-11 is an admin error by Nissan! It is the plug for an NA!
  22. Yes it is a fact they are better than ZX brakes!! In fact what brakes ain't better than a Zeds:eek:
  23. No Damage then!!!!!!!!!:D :D :D
  24. So you are gonna run how much BHP through an autobox!!!!!!
  25. Hi, If anyone has some pictures of where to locate the sensors on the manifolds, they would be appreciated! Mark
