Zed Friendly Insurance
Well i'm having no luck at all with my renewal  Adrian flux is asking for £1000 on an NA auto even though I have 4 years NCB, clean license, garage, CAT1 and i'm 25. No other companies will beat it though except Elephant (£950) and quoteacar.co.uk at £860 I have been really pleased with Adrian Flux for the past 2 years but now I have to decide on going with the company I trust or risking a new company just to get a resonable quote! :nono: (PS several brokers have now told me that the only underwriters who will touch imports are highway and Norwich Union, so brokers are really limited to the quotes they can offer hence why adrian flux can't reduce my renewal any more)

I'm going to be in London on the weekend of the 19th  I'd love to be there if the date changes or if not i'll see you all at the next meet. P.S. Anyone know of a black 300zx with big gold wheels? I saw it in Lidl car park, Risca this lunch time. Nice rear spoiler and v6 badges.

Brake Problems
i'm not much of a mechanic myself but i'd recommend: http://www.popuplights.co.uk the 323f owners club website. It's a small club but very helpful. Maybe i'm biased as I used to have a 323f GTi, great cars

Need Tires Again (already)
I've used http://www.etyres.co.uk in the past. Their prices are competitive generally and the best bit is they come to your house (or workplace) to fit the tyres. Might be worth a try.

Auto driving guide
I'm new to the world of auto boxes as well as 300zx. Although i'm getting on fine with it I don't understand all the buttons that come with them. This is what I understand; can someone let me know if it's complete rubbish. 1st - when you need to stay in the lowest gear e.g. towing a caravan (or doing donuts!) 2nd - when you want to pull away gently e.g. in the wet/snow Power button - gearbox kick's down more often. Hold - hold in whatever gear you are in at the time e.g. going down a steep hill to increase engine braking. Overdrive - no idea! How's that?????

Brake upgrade
That's a good idea MGH297. Cheers

God it feels good...
No! You would soon hear about it if it had! I had my valve caps nicked off my last car though. I live in a nice but poor area of the country and I'm worried that people will greatly overestimate the value of my car and do nasty things to it :xxx: I have to park it on the street every night and I can't keep an eye on it at work, makes me a bit paranoid :(

Brake upgrade
I bought my N/A auto knowing that the front brakes were warped. It's not a major problem but something I want to sort out at some point. Can anyone recommend higher spec disks (that don't cost a fortune) or should I just stick to standard spec ones? I will be doing more cruising than racing in my zed so overall stopping power isn't my main concern, i just want good stoppers that look nice behind my 18's and will last. Cheers Russ

It's got a good alarm fitted but that wont stop kids nicking the valve caps or keying the sides  Is it just me are does owning a Zed make you over protective?

God it feels good...
The car seems built to cruize so i'm taking it nice and easy (the auto box helps) but I will be taking extra care until I'm used to it. I just took some people out in her and there was a group of young lads stood round it!! I work in a college and it's causing quite a stir!

...to own a 300zx! I bought james' (RS200tez) black N/A on the weekend. It's fantastic, a real credit to it's former keeper. The only plans I have for her are to keep it well serviced and change the brakes and maybe the exhaust (it's the factory one - 15years old!). Thanks to all of you for the warm welcome and advice you gave me last week it really gave me confidence to go through with buying one (a good forum is even better than a warrenty IMHO!). And special thanks to James and his family for making the stressful event of buying/selling cars so enjoyable (cheers again for the ride in the TT!). I plan to be at the weston-super-mare meet in Feb so see some of you then. Russ

Warning: Newbie Q's
More sound advice guys. The N/A seems like the car for me :hyper: My email address is russellcromack@hotmail.com

Warning: Newbie Q's
Might give the 200sx a miss then! I'm not sure if I could handle a TT straight away, I'm a fairly sensible driver but I recently had a bad experience in a modded MR2 Turbo! I'm looking forward to driving a RWD car but I want one that's as predictable as poss to learn in. Turbos (and lag!), SWB and mid engines aren't the best cars for beginners! Therefore i'm still going to look for an N/A even if the insurance is the same. Cheers again for all your help guys, you're more friendly than the MR2 lot! :smw:

Warning: Newbie Q's
Thanks for the replys guys. I'll start looking for a good one. I'm a little worried about the oversteer (I've not had alot of experience with RWD), is traction control common on N/A's? How much does it cost to retro fit?

Warning: Newbie Q's
Hi aguys I'm looking for a new car on really like the idea of a 300zx. I think an N/A will be more than quick enough for now and i'd struggle to pay the insurance on a TT anyway. My main concern is finding a manual one, what is the auto like to drive? Are there any problems with the box kicking down mid corner etc (i've never driven an auto and i'm a bit worried about not being in full control when the engines making 200BHP+!). You guys clearly love your 300's but how do they compare with the 200sx? Insurance and performance (of the N/A 300) seem similar on paper but am i missing something. Anything I else I should know before trying to buy one? Sorry about the basic questions but any help would be appreciated. Cheers Russell
