Squealing brakes
Replacing the disks solved all of my squealing problems.

exhaust heatshield
I think that you will find that the one over the cat is a problem as the cat runs a lot hotter than the straight through pipe. It will make the inside a lot hotter!

exhaust heatshield
I understand that you need the heat shields if nothing else to keep the temperature in the passenger cabin down. When I needed to replace some I got a set from Andyz. They were very cheap.

Classic Insurance!!! YES AGAIN!!!!!
Insurance premiums see to depend on whether the guy quoting had a good time with his mistress the previous night. You just have to be lucky. Try Houghton Insurance 01582-867763. They got me classic cover on an ungaraged twin turbo import for £340 limited to 1500 miles. I have just increased it to 3000 miles for an extra £45. They required a Cat 1 alarm. The insurance is through AON.

EBC Reds V.2
I've been using red stuff v2 since just after Billing and they seem to wear well with drilled and grooved disks. Performance is better than before I changed, but this may be due to the diskswhich were warped, rather than the pads. Obviously I don't use the brakes as much as some people.

Be Careful With Warranties
I bought a Peugeot 406 coupe from Great Trade Centre and took an extended warranty. My engine management light came on. The diagnostic showed that a coil had gone and I was advised to replace all of the coils and the spark plugs (platinum tipped) as it is a major job. Remove inlet manifold etc. The warranty does not cover diagnosis of the fault and only covers what was broken i.e. one coil. The total cost was £320. The warranty company paid £45 for one coil and a hours labour. Lucky that I had kept my Z, as the Peugeot was off the road for 10 days waiting for diagnosis and parts. I drove about 1200 miles in the Z and had a great time in it. I have been half heartedly trying to sell it to please the wife, but this has made me even less keen to do so, especially with summer around the corner.

Lovely supple leather...
I bought a kit from Gliptone that has dye so that you can touch in or colourwash ant scuffed areas and has the cleanser and finisher. It works really well.

Is This a Record?
It usually takes me an hour to drive home M11, M25, A1. Last night I left work at just before 4pm as usual and got home at 1:15 am. That's 9 hours and 20 minutes. An absolute disgrace! I suppose that all of the gritting lorries must have been stuck in a traffic jam or were gritting the roads between the Civic Centre and the Council members homes, because in a 40 mile 9+ hour journey, I did not see any.

IT help please
It seem that as the system is booting and you are transferring files, all you need to do is put a new folder on the new drive and copy the whole of the contents of the old drive to it. Go into My Computer Click on the drive you you want to copy to to open it. Right click in the open white space and select New - Folder. This creates a new folder on the new drive. Click on the drive you want to copy from to open it Click edit - select all from the top menu Right hand click on one of the files and select Copy Right click on your new folder and select paste. This will copy the contents of the old drive to the new one Best of luck

Z31 insurance and seats
You can get cherished car insurance on both a Z31 and Z32. There is only one turbo in the Z31 and I am pretty sure that it will not fit. I am not sure about the seats either. They are very different, but may have the same fixings. Mike Feeney will be able to tell you about this as he is an expert on all of the older Zs. 01277-374201

Autobox f*cked
Andy, I saw the Z32 that the box was taken from. The box looked the same, but when the mechanic was half way through fitting it, he found that one of the bolts did not line up and that the sensors were in different positions. He checked the part number of the box against mine and they were different. Although it cost me an extra £450, I was happier with the rebuild as I knew what I was getting and some mods were made for better oil flow and cooling. Ivans Auto was recommended to me by a Z Club of GB member and they did a good job.

Autobox f*cked
Take care when buying a secondhand auto box. There is more than one type. I originally bought one for an import. it was taken from an import and had a different part number and did not fit. We only found this out half way through fitting it. Took me two months to get the money back. I then had the box rebuilt by Ivan autos, who also did some mods on it. They collected and returned within three days. Cost £600 for overhaul, new convertor £130 both plus VAT. Broken parts cost extra, apart from clutches belts etc.
