ECU temp sensor repair?
Contact Mike feeney 01277-374201. I got a new connector for mine from him. It is the same as the one for another Z. He will know which one. I extended the wire slightly by soldering a piece on and using some heat shrink tubing as it was very tight.

UK Zed Brochure
Last year at Billing, there was a guy selling brochures for all older cars. I bought a z32tt brochure from him for about £5. It is about 35 pages with a red z on the front.

Insurance Caution
I was looking to buy a set of VTR alloy wheels for my daughters Citroen Saxo. They are about £100 a set on Ebay. Being a good guy, I decided to check with Direct Line to see if it would make any difference to the policy. They quoted an additional premium of 20%, extra £100 excess and as the car would be modified my daughter could not drive it until she is 25. They consider alloys, s/s exhausts, spoilers etc turn the car into a modified one. This is also the case with a Z. Even if you replace the exhaust with a stainless one, this is a mod and you could have a shock if you tell your insurers. So take care.

Alarm & Turbo Timer
When I had my cat 1 alarm fitted, I was told that they would have to disconnect the turbo timer, or the alarm would comply with the standard. i.e. the immobiliser must automatically set within so many seconds. and it could invalidate my insurance

shocks and springs
Try Eurocarparts or German & Swedish. They have lots of branches and I think that they do Renault. They are both on the web.

FFS! Fine for driving without insurance!
What about the guy in the paper the other week that killed a boy. He had no licence, tax or insurance, was disqualified and also enough points to disqualify him several times over from previous recent convictions and was pictured getting into a car and driving off. Apart from the fact that he should be at Her Majesty's pleasure, it makes a nonsense of people who try to stay legal. Its long past due that the police can read number plates into the computer and see that they are taxed, insured and MOT'd immediately. I know that they are getting there, but not soon enough.

****ing Paypal
Paypal do not like hotmail type addresses, but if your home address is verified, i.e. when you go into ebay they then put a charge of $1 through to your credit card. When your credit card statement comes through the charge has a reference number by it. Type that number on to ebay and they then have verifed your address. If you do not do this, every time you use it, the seller gets a message saying address unverified and may want to wait until the transaction is cleared before sending the goods. I think that you get the $1 back, when you first use the account. This sounds complicated, but it is not and is only to protect the user.

Bose System
My advice is to ditch the speakers and amps. The Bose speakers are a different impedance from the normal ones and probably will not match you head unit. I tried a lot of things with mine and they were never right when wired without the amps. Initially the shop thought that it was a fault on the head unit and replaced it. The sound was still not right. They then replaced the speakers and it was great.

Virgin needs help!
I got a handbook for my car from Mike Feeney 01277-374201 If you go the the Z Club of GB site http://www.zclub.net and go to the club shop, there are some books on Zs. The z club is also worth joining. There is one good book if you are interested in the heritage of the Z called Mr K, which is about the man who thought of the Z and fought to make it happen. Good Luck with the Z.

Diamondbrite & Jewelultra
When I bought my daughter a new Citroen Saxo they threw a Diamond Brite treatment in which they said normally cost £250 amongst other things to get the deal. They treated the whole of the inside and out and gave a guarantee that it would not mark or stain and that the paint would be OK. Nearly two years later it seems to have done every thing they said it would, but I doubt if I would pay £250 for it.

Two New Car Stickers
Isn't it about time we had some car stickers to show that we are proud of our Zs. A lot of us have other cars and you feel an idiot when you flash a Z and he looks at you as if your mad. If we had a sticker something like "my other cars a Z", we could be recognised. The second sticker is for the Z. Couldn't we have a funny sticker like the old ones of "windsurfers do it standing up" "accountants do it with internal control" Any suggestions?

How many of you let your partners drive their Z?
I let my missus drive the car once, when it was going to be collected from her office by the mechanic. On her way home she could not get the auto into gear for half an hour as she forgot to put her foot on the brake. She has also written off two of her own Z31s. See how brave (or stupid) I am.

Dunlop 9090 tyres
I had some SP9000 on my Z31 and they were very good and had excellent reviews at the time. I suppose that this is the newer version. Don't forget Toyo Proxies. Great on a Z and everybody including me raves about them. I haven't noticed any bad feedback on them yet.
