can any1 tell me about the steering angle sensor mounted below the indicator stalk as ive changed my steering wheel today and noticed that there is alot more to modify than expected. i also had difficulty requiring the correct hub and settled for a momo version .without modification will i lose my hicas due to part removal of the sensor ??

Yes you'll loose HICAS. There's a HICAS sensor that sits behind the steering wheel. You need a special boss for it. I expect DTA can get them for you.

thanks 4 that i have modded it a bit by keeping the unit on and attaching the sensor disc to the back of the new hub .it took a while and alot of accurate measuring and a strip down fo the unit losing most of the internals and losing cruise buttons[which i used a wire 4 horn]...ill take it to get tracked tomorrow

HICAS - what is that?

If you did change the steering wheel and did not install the HICAS sensor or it was installed incorectly fitted, you mentioned you would loose the HICAS, would you get a warning light at all (or via diagnostics)?

yes - hicas light would illuminate... if yours has been changed and you're not sure the correct boss was fitted, check the bulb's not been removed: the same one indicates low fluid level in the reservoir!!

Can I have more info on the hycas sensor on the wheel? Interested in removing mine as the rest of the system has been ditched, including the bulb!

you can just swap the hub for a non-hicas one. Or leave it! There is a mod you can do to stop the hicas light illuminating for a hicas fault, but retain the low fluid warning function - you need to short a couple of pins... try a search, I'm sure it was on here somewhere.
