When the car is cold, it tends to hold back a bit and all of a sudden I get a massive burst of acceleration, could this be because of the bigger tubs or be part of my idling problem? maf, tps, ptu, I have mesh grills in my centre panel, could water be getting in to the maf and causing dampness?

It never goes above 3000rpm untill the engine is at normal working tempature, I usually only go to 2500rpm untill then, maybe I exaggerated when I said massive burst of acceleration, one minuite I will be driving at 2500 rpm in 2nd then it will feel like the turbos are kicking in, this only happens when cold.

i have this problem too mate, tho it could be down to several things on mine cos its not running quite right. as you squeeze the pedal down its like: judder, misfire, blank, judder, WHOOOOOOOSH!!!!!!! would be awesome if its just the whoosh bit

Sounds daft, but all cylinders are firing?

V6s will run on 5 if one cylinder not firing because of bad lead, plug, or gap etc (but without power) and as engine warms up and mixture weakens, that cylinder can jump into life.

certainly not a daft suggestion. i obviously cant speak for Leigh but mine is definately on 6. it will idle fine on 6 but only hold back under throttle when cold. ive had probs with the ptu before and know what its like to run on 5. (then 4, then 3... )

I think so as I have had a brand new loom fitted when I had the engine build, im thinking its either the ptu, tps or maf as the idle bounces around a bit on idle, am I right in thinking this?

My idle is running high about 1500rpm and somtimes it wil drop to 1100 does anybody no what could be wrong?

your idle at normal operating temperature shouldnt be anywhere near that, if you start from cold then 1500 probably about right, as the car gets warmer the revs will drop off eventually to around 750-800rpm. If you got high idle check the voltage at the tps, then check the idle air valve, bit of a pain to get to but the solenoids stick sometimes causing problems.
