Have been offered a swop for the zed. A white GT Four. Was wondering what you guys thought about it? My friend has one and really all i now is that its as quick as a zed and you get some grip on the road at speeds round corner with its 4wd.

I like them in stock-format. They do handle well, are quite quick. But the ones I've driven, it's never felt like blistering performance. There is Zero turbo lag, which is a good thing, but the boost is very progressive and you don't feel the same level of acceleration as you do in a Z.

I wouldn't have one over a Z. They don't have the same road presence and they don't sound anywhere near as good. The interiors are also desperately bland.

I used to have a Celica GT-Four about 10 years ago, and really liked it at the time, but its no comparison for the zed, its more of a 200sx rival, but as with most Jap performance cars, everything can be upgraded.

They are well built and reliable, with Lots of grip for launching and in bad weather but short geared and dont have the same performance or excitement the Zed offers.

I have a 2.0GT ST202 Celica as my daily driver as well now.

i know the gt four but it's a not high on my list of jap cars so im gonna keep silent on this one

but rest assured i prefer the Z all day! for many reasons !

I've got an st205 as my daily driver, and it's a fabulous all-round performance car - probably one of the best out-of-the-box jap performance cars to live with in my opinion - You get the looks, decent fuel economy, relatively cheap insurance, pretty easy maintenance, and all-weather safe performance with that 4wd. Having said all that, the zed is much more of a thrill machine - with a decent set of alloys, I think it's a better looking car and with the 3lt + turbo set-up, the power is much more thrilling (as is the rwd!). The 2lt 16valve engine of the Celica just does not have the low down grunt of the zeds 3lt, and there is noticeable turbo lag in comparison. Ultimatey, I'd never want to get rid of the zed, but could part ways with the gt4 if I had to!! Hope this helps, mate

I used to have a gt4 (st205) and loved it, had an ogura clutch, greddy boost contoler and a filter and it was dynod at 282bhp. To be honest it felt a fair bit quicker up to 60 than the zed but mine is an auto so not really a fair comparison. AND it never broke down in 18 months of being used every day. Bad bit was the constant knob heads askin if it was a real gt4. Dont get any of that with the zed.

I've never owned a GT4 but I did get one as a courtesy car for a few days back in 1995 when my (then) Carina E GTi was at Toyota for a service and cam-belt change.....

....I loved it back then; and it was almost brand new with less than 5k miles. But would I have one over a 300zx? No! So I will agree with Fastorquer!

Richard:)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I have a 1990 N/A, and my two sons each have a gt4,they are nice looking cars also reliable, but the fuel economy is very poor compared to my zed. Also my NA is quicker off the lights so I would not swap.

i imagine your n/a fuel economy will be better than my twin turbo aswell. have thought about it and i wont be swapping the zed:D

Good Lad :D

The GT4 is a lovely car, but in a different league to the Zed.

Maybe like comparing an M3 to an M5, similar performance, both very quick, but the M5 is the larger, classier, more expensive (when new) and sophisticated car.

When I was leaving the Gym the other night, I saw a MR2 turbo being an arse with a nicely driven Mitsi 3000GTO, the driver of the GTO ignoring his advances. I just thought, nice car mate, maybe just as quick, but that GTO is in a different class. The GTO had real presence and looked so much faster than the nice, but common and slightly girly MR2.

The 300zx is in the same leaque as a GTO, but is my preference.

When I went to test drive my zed, the dealer had a GTO MR (light weight version), it even had the OEM Chrome wheels and was in a dark met blue (was tempted to shell another 1.5k for it).

It looked awsome, I really like the way the body curves from front to the rear arches.

I just do not really like the interiors (bit to drab for the car).
