Oreet peeps, gonna pick ya brains again :-)

I took her for the first drive after the re-build, and the speedo isn't working, neither is the trip milage, but I never noticed if the odometer is working. Someone has done a LED conversion on it, and the pods, so I have removed the lot today, and they have made a bit of an abortion of it. Also, as it's an import, there is a KPH to MPH converter fitted (badly) inline with the feed to the speedo. Is this necersary, as the dials have been changed to MPH? Also, the boost gauge is not working either, I can't see anything obvious for that tho...

Also, I don't like the leds, the light is too direct, only lights up where the led is, so I may go standard, but I know you can get direct led replacements, could anyone tell me the bulb type I need? And if anyone has used them, are they any good?

Cheers y'all.... Tudor...

Hi Bud

The kph to mph convertor is still required on a speedo with the face reading mph, unless the ecu has been rechipped, it is likely that if its fitted badly, may be the reason why the speedo isnt working.

Try disconnecting the convertor and make sure the yello/green wire is refitted to the speedo. The speedo will read in kph, but if the speedo works, you can say that the convertor is gone.

It sounds like someone has done a botch job on the dash, the leds wont make any difference to how the guages work.

There are no direct replacement leds off the shelf for the pods, but the dash ones can be bought as a direct fit 501 style.

Hope this helps

Thanks mate. The wires for the converter were exposed, and I know one of them is +12v, so possibly that could have shorted to ground, is there a fuse for that? (the cover from my fuse box is all in japanese :-) I think I'll put the pods back to standard and get some indiglo dials....

If you look in the faq section, there is a wiring diagram for the convertor and a translation for the fuse box.

If the rest of the gauges are working, its unlikely to be a fuse. Try without the convertor first to see if the speedo works.

Of Course, if that doesnt work out, its the Speed sensor on the gearbox.

Pretty common.
