Well it's 90 yrs today the 1st world war finished. Four years fighting. Mental to believe what men went through at ypres etc...... battle of the Somme and more. They fought through 30 feet of mud sometimes and had been commanded to leave anyone stuck in the mud only to hear the screams. I bow to all that took up arms to give the freedom we have today. Only if the younger playstation generation realised. Only 3 veterens left, one 108, one 112 and one 113. Amazing what people do for others. God bless all!!!!:bow::bow::bow:

Did anyone watch Time Team on C5 last night where they dug up an old WW1 bunker? I like Time Team, but this episode was really really good. I was glued.

watched the time team bunker last night also never even knew about the underground war. diggin for months sometimes years on end all for freedom. both my grandfather and father fought in the front line and in the air of WWI and WWII respectively. They were amongst the lucky ones. neither really ever talked about their time served now I can see why

Yer watched it myself. Amazed at how they managed to get the materials to the location in such hard times. Imagine dragging a fookin railway down 14 mtrs through all that mud etc.... and that crater that was created from the mines that was planted. Mental!!!

some of the railway lines used were german made too. must have pinched 'em when they weren't lookin.

i saw that time team episode too

was amazed how everything was still in such good condition

cant imagine what they went through

 

can you imagine the playstation kids of today, having to do that ??
