Well thats it,with all the help and advise and the people that have seen my car,we have come to the conclusion that the bottom end is away, one of the wee bearings.:hurl:

So as i love the 300 that much i am keeping the car and getting another engine, spoke to a few on the forum and have a few options, once again just like to thank every one for the advice i got.So now we start all over again, like ive said ive seen a few engines and enquired about them,so is there any advise and tips on wot i should be looking for, before i do the final deal

Plus can anyone tell me where the engine number is located.

try not to buy off the ground..better a few ££ more to hear it running in the car;)

i would advise getting ur 300 engine rebuilt.

"jimmer" on this forum is a great guy to rebuild ur engine, tho he is in bristol!!

i am driving my 300 to him, as i know it will be a good job with no worries about probs.

try searching any local people that can strip and rebuild ur 300, at least u know it will be what u want and is done by a pro, rather than buy a 300 engine which may be on its last legs.

What he said ^^^^^^^^

Get it rebuilt by someone like Jimmer who knows what they're doing. Some of these engines are 18 years old now and putting a replacement in can be false economy as you could have the same thing happen a few months down the line.

What they said /\ /\ /\ /\ /\ /\ /\ you would end up with an engine like when the car was new, and that lasted over 15 years, plus you have some options, i.e., forged pistons, cometic head gasket, top end bypass and so on. Once done if you do plan to up the power, the engine is all set up for it.

Rebuild = better than replacement. ;)

I agreed with what they all said ^^^^^ :)

funkysi had some well documented problems buying a replacement engine for his you need to be careful m8

Going for the cheaper option on these motors will more often than not end up with much more expense.
