First video I managed to get.

This is after initial running to get everything up to temp, check for leaks etc. and do some very, very basic mapping to at least let it rev a bit without stalling. Still some big flatspots even with no load but that'll all get sorted soon.

Cheers to Rob (dunkzxtt) for helping out today too :duffer:

Cheers for all the comments guys, still smiling

What's the tapping noise in the vid? Is it noisy lifters?

Simon.

Just normal top end noise on this engine. Cams are massive 280°@50thou lift with very aggressive ramp and soild lifters so will always be noisey.

There is a little bit of clicking as some spitback still on one cyl, haven't synched the throttle bodies yet other than by eye so I think that one is running a little lean on idle compared to the others.

That is amazing.

So how do you go about synching the TB's Whats the method? Do you just use one of those gauge things?

Just F0oking Wow! That sounds like it's got some serious power behind it! It's gotta be the way forward all this V8 Lark hasn't it...

that sounds amazinggggggg:D! like an american muscle car:L! very impressed

P.S, and ever so slightly jealous.lol:L!

Glad you all like it!

Sync the TB's just using a carb balancer, yeah. Set it up running on a smooth low speed then just set the opening to give equal flow on each cyl.

I think what you've done is inadvertently created the best 300zx ever matey  lol

Just don't walk away too far at the shows in case someone nicks it :D

it does sound very nice but theres a worrying tappity noise in there also....was that the first time you had turned it over and maybe it was in need a good dose of oil sloshed around

Wow Wow Wow John, sounds incredible :bow::bow::bow:

As John said earlier - Thats what you get with Solid lifters and aggressive cams

If that was getting sold i think i would quite like first dibs.lol:D!

No, being dry sumped I'd already run the pump up manually with a drill then on the starter motor many times to build up pressure and check the lubrication. Also, if you notice how long it takes to catch, that's because I'm holding the ignition kill and not letting it fire until the oil pressure is up as measured from the main engine gallery.

It's almost a full on race build, big cams, soild lifters, big clearences, will always be noisey. You ever heard a lambo V12 running, believe me it sounds much worse!

No way I'm selling it, deffo a keeper this one ;)

As far as i remember discussing it rudi we'll be using a solid roller tappet and a mild/fast road cam.

This is going to be my day to day car in the summer so i don't want it too mad for the public roads but the solid lifters mean it can rev higher as far as i remember as the hydraulic one rob the top end
