First video I managed to get.

This is after initial running to get everything up to temp, check for leaks etc. and do some very, very basic mapping to at least let it rev a bit without stalling. Still some big flatspots even with no load but that'll all get sorted soon.

Cheers to Rob (dunkzxtt) for helping out today too :duffer:

Lol, you should hear it from close up, that's pretty much just induction on the video. Rob has some more, hopefully he'll post them up soon.

Well lets just say it gives me an idea of what my new car is going to sound like in february when i finish it ;) (thread to follow shortly)

I can't wait to see that in the flesh :hyper:

Are you running in the zed club drag challenge next year? If so i think i may have just found a competitor - if i finish it in time ;)

Nice, is that Gavin Balmer's old car?

Will kick my ass if it is, was properly set up for the strip as I remember!

It's Rudi Oliver's project car, i'll be working alongside him to finish it off alongside Mike Feeney from MJP to help tune it/advise on setup but it's pretty much complete, just cams, heads and rockers to choose alongside the carb.

Should be a 6.3 by the time it's finished, 450 - 500bhp and a shed load of torque. It'll be a lazy V8 not a buzzy racer like yours though so i would think you'd just have the edge.

The sound of V8 powered Z32's at the Pod is on the way :D hehe

Excellent, be an interesting comparison either way. You doing full on drag suspension etc? I'm keeping mine very much track biased so will prob have pathetic 60' times as no squat.

We'll deffo have to run side by side, double thunder :hyper:

I'm going for a holly carb rather than injection so I can keep tweaking all the time LOL

Nah just a set of ohlins on the back to tweak the suspension slightly for dragging and stiffen for the road so maybe a little bit better than yours off the line but not much better lol

As John said, at the start of this vid the mapping is a very basic, loads of popping and banging going on!

Towards the end when JD had tweaked a few setting with his laptop it was a hell of a lot better :D

He even let me press the loud pedal for a few seconds :D so HE could experiance the induction roar first hand from outside the car.

Fecking awesome! Everybody should have a V8 :p

P.S. My ears still hurt..... :wack::hyper:

Does sound awesome, so so awesome :hyper:

So how many v8 z32's will there be by the end of next year then? John's and mine'll be finished. What's the status with Friday's? Are there any others?

Friday's is still very much a work in progress but it's coming along, will be done for the end of next year at the latest I'd think.

The thing i find so great is everyone's done it in their own way not just in a standard way, you running individual throttle bodies, some trick tuning and cams, mine's going to be old school american muscle under the bonnet and friday's is going to be different again in probably a more refined but gutsy engine.

Can't wait to see how they all compare out on the road.

Interesting thing about my project is Rudi took the time to drop the steering rack down by 2 inches and sit the engine under the standard bonnet even with the carb so it should have a really nice low centre of gravity. I know yours is the same with the vq well back from the wheels and with the dry sump conversion. I'll have to have a chat with you about how you're sorting out the handling on yours

Wow, not been on here in a long time, what a treat this is! Sounds incredible, I'll have to come and see it in person some time.

John,

I'm always keen to read these update threads of this minor (:)) project of yours!

What's the tapping noise in the vid? Is it noisy lifters?

Simon.

This is unbelievable stuff!  Well done fellas, i'm lost for words! - Just fantastic! :D
