Hello, im going to be installing a Air/Fuel gauge tommorow and just wanted to know if one of the connectors in the top of the engine bay for the o2 sensors is where i want to tap into? and which wire do i need to splice?

My gauge only needs one wire to slice.

Thanks

Pete

ok, the gauge is installed on the pass side o2 sensor, and im getting no reading, any help?

1 wire???? dont these things need a power feed aswell?

is your sterio positive feed live all the time because most modern sterios have two live feeds but only one is perm live.

duh? i meant only a single wire to splice, its tapped into the sterio power.

are you being sarcastic here????

what i meant was, the gauge is working and geting a reading, but... it doesn't change.

Its a glowshift volt/air/fuel gauge, the volt reading is good, but the air/fuel is showing red only, which means its getting a reading from the o2 sensor, but it doesn't change.

And i know its getting a reading because i previously had it installed to only power and it gives a reading for the volts but doesn't light up for the A/F, just displays a flashing warning.

duh? yep

more info=more help:slap:

Well that buggered me, lol cos the ECU is a closed loop application you won't get a proper reading for the 1st 2000 revs. Mines wired into the loom at back of ECU but it certainly has 2 or 3 wires from it.

Soz can't help in that case.

whats funny is i would wire it into the driverside o2 sensor but when i look under the car i can see the wire from it has been cut for some reason, its been like this as long as i have had the car and it runs fine, wierd eh

I think ill do a o2 ecu check thingy tommorow

I noticed today that the gauge reading changes depending on things switched on in the car ie. heaters, redimister etc

So, i must be getting interference from somewhere eh?

Can anybody point me in the direction of the ecu pin numbers the o2 sensors are so i can just tap into the wire at the ecu end instead.

Thanks

Pete

TBH theose gauges are less than usefull.

Being a narrowband sensor its nothing mire than pretty lights im afraid.

The only way to get accurate reading on your A/F ratio is with a wideband :)

i know mate, but they give you a rough estimate of how things are running, which is all i need, mild mods and so forth

Thats what i would have said, im still to fit my innovite wideband.

Pete you need to locate the ecu o2 pin and splice it in there. There is a ecu pin diagram somwhere floating about, have a search.
