sorry to bug use again about oil pressure.

Just had the car serviced, on starting it up now the oil pressure guage sits just off 0, but once i drive the car the oil pressure picks up and sits at around 2 psi, then when i go into neutral the oil pressure drops back down to just off zero. Is this a problem or is it a good thing?

my oil pressure always starts from cold at around 4 and sits at 2ish constantly when warm (usually when doing below 40mph) it does increase when on carrigeways etc

but honestly the stock gauge is notouriously unreliable rest assured ur oil pressure will not be 0

what oil and filter did u use?

sounds a bit low.

when the cars cold:

when start, should be just over 4, then when warm up idle on 2, or just under.

if its warm,

should be on 2, or just under, neutral or in gear.

when did u last change/check the oil?

Take the oil filler cap off when its idling and look inside. You should see plenty of oil washing over the camshaft indicating good oil flow. As others have said the stock oil pressure sender is not reliable and tends to wear out in the bits of its measuring range where it usually sits in. So you can find it works great when the oil is cold and the pressure really high then falls away to hardly anything when hot.

awrite lads, thanks very much for the help you have given me. It was 10w40 castrol oil put in not sure about the filters
