yup get shot and replace ya inner and outer balljoints, makes a hooge difference and less to go wrong

Less to go wrong, better feeling over the rear wheels, when if feels like the back end is going, thats cause it is!

Cons - none that i can think of

As above, also let clutter in the engine bay and weight saving.

You can get rid of the clutch bleed pipe too if you change your master cylinder for a series two one.

why i need control over my rear wheel steering
but how do you knows if its working and why as above/?

Its a handling aid. Its speed and steering angle sensitive .Depending on the speed and the steering angle the Computer will either turn the rear wheels with the front wheels, or turn the opposite way, or it can turn one way and then the other.

It helps with fast lane changes, and high speed turns. A lot of people dont like it because it takes away some of the "feel" and can make the car handle in a way you don't necessarily want it to. Others may feel it helps them of tricky situations and they are comfortable with it.

The biggest problem with it is that it can have a very negative affect with the rear end stability when the hicas arms are worn.

If there is a fault with it then the Hicas light should show. You can also test it with a Conzult system.

i'm in the same boat....dont know if i should bin it or not...a kinda like it bt want rid of the clutter in the engine bay and its less to go wrong as i have disscovered there is lots to go wrong on these motors. think i mite rip it out while the engine is out.

Yes and no for me, i like the feeling of changing lanes extremely quick but i also feel i am less in control of the car.

well im taking the engine out but can say the light has never come on and i have uk car still thinking about all that pipe under the car waiting to fail an igrant mot tester

Tbh its not a commong failure item. I would'nt bother getting rid if its just for reliablity. The only problem people tend to have it with the Hicas arm bushes getting worn. If you fit a hicas eliminator you will still have the same problem. Only way to get around that it to do a complete NA subframe swap.

You can disable the hicas tempoarily by disconnecting the plug that goes between the Hicas solenoid and PAS fluid lid to see if you prefer it.

are the subframes costly ? it might be worth doing if i done all the shocks and brake lines at the same time?

yes, but will also increase acceleration and lose a biy top end as it has different ratio's

yeh, the main reason for doing it is the different ratios....the ditching hicas is more of a side affect.
