Hey all

 

My car had the plenum removed and painted by the garage. When they put it on the Dyno it blew out a gasket. When I asked them if they had put new gaskets in when they put the plenum back on they said that the gaskets looked ok to them and so they just put some silicone on them and put it back together.

 

My Question is if they try and charge me to pull the plenum again and put ion new gaskets should I pay? Or should I tell them it was their own fault for cutting corners?

I'd prolly take it somewhere else. Plenum gaskets aren't expensive!

Yep I am a bit stunned to be honest. I think once its back together and mapped up It will be looking for a new home.

Silicone isnt the answer when the gasket is there. I would expect a garage to replace any gaskets required whether they looked ok or not. In some cases I have planned ahead and supplied gaskets/seals etc but for me they are in the wrong.
