Just taken the Z out for a bit of a blast, whilst I still like the car a lot and it feels as good now as it ever has, it just doesn't seem to give me the same buzz it did when I first got it.

I know it's one of those things. Like when you meet a new girl and you're at it like rabbits until it almost becomes one of those things you do to pass the time and release stress.

I don't know whether I've had enough of throwing money at it. Maybe I've run out of things to do with it. Maybe it's because the weather is cold and I actually prefer driving it with the roof off. Maybe I fancy something more modern without the squeaks and rattles of an 18 year old sports car. Maybe I just fancy something different all together?

I couldn't sell it. A: I'd not get anywhere near what I'd want for it, B: I just don't want to see it get into the wrong hand and C: I just couldn't part with it.

Just need to get excited by the car again. I don't think any amount of engine work and boost upgrades would really give me the buzz again. I dunno

/thoughts.

I tought myself to get into powerslides before you passed your driving test CM! I had a Senator given to me at 21. H reg it was, so only about 10 years old. Learned how to powerslide round roundabouts.

I guess I don't want to scrub my tyres too much in the Z! LOL Just paid £500 for them.

I had mine for one year now and I´m still so in luv with it like the first day..but when you get this feeling I suggest you stop driving it for about a month not even going to see it; just forget about it..and then one day all of sudden you happen to see some Z that is not your´s drivin around and you´ll see the feeling you get.Trust me!

and Please don´t even think about selling it..aight?:):)

Si,

It is perfectly normal to get bored with what you have, everyone has experienced the frustration of wanting a new car, job or partner. Since changing your car is often the easiest, cheapest and safest - it's what most people change. Have you considered joining a clar club where for a small fee, you can drive something exotic every weekend? http://www.classiccarclub.co.uk/home.asp might be right up your street. Maybe, after you have driven a lot of other cars you will see just how ahead of its time it really was.

Next up, car control - you need to drive it in the wet, and rain water will not hurt your car, especially if you give it a good wash when it's dry again. We only salt our roads when the temp drops to below 0, and maybe icy roads are the only roads I avoid if I can, but for many zed owners it's there only car and that have no problems in those condtions - just drive it off boost (don't exceed 3k rpm), smooth acceleration and braking and only accelerate when the wheels are facing dead straight ahead. Join a club like http://www.cadence.co.uk they will teach you all you need to know about getting the best out of your zed in all conditions. They can even take you to millbrook or Bruntingthorpe just to hone your skills on a track.

Anyway - sorry to ramble on, but I go through the need to change my car more than most and everytime I sell my zed - the next car is such a dissapointment - I instantly buy another zed. I am onto my 5th now and after n/a's and TT's both auto's and manuals I can say the zed is truly terrific. You will be hard pushed to find another car with genuine 180mph 5s 0-60mph 2+2 that you can take the roof off for less than 18k so what would you change it to? Anything else wouldn't tick all the boxes. "my old zed was more comfortable than this..." or "my old zed was quicker handled better than this" but my favourite "nobody takes any notice of me in this (porsche/tvr/lotus/etc) everyone stared at my zed"

Junk the job and the Mrs! you'll regret leaving the zed!

I love my zed got it for a bargain price and have done all work myself, i enjoy fixing it and it gets driven every single day, rain or shine, its a good way to de-stress after work. It always makes me smile and feel proud to be an owner of one of these beasts.

As Nick said, when youve been trained to drive very fast but safely, ie TPAC there is always the odd time when you can get caught out, but if you just take it a bit easier, then it wont end in misery.

Si give it time and it will all come back.

I've driven my previous zed's all year round in all weathers and never had any problems, they were still able to take corners in the pouring rain faster that I could in my daily drivers and never had any concerns about them....

.... but I have also driven zed's that were lethal in the rain !...your going round a rounabout slower than than your average sunday driver and the front and back are trying to swap ends on you without notice, or your travelling down a long straight and the car wants to 4 wheel aquaplane everywhere while every other car on the road overtakes.

Tyre choice being the critical factor, some of the tyres that the imports come over fitted with should never be shown a drop of water on UK roads.

I compleatly agree. Tyre choice is a major factor.
