just been shuttering garage floor for concrete floor to raised 6" next week. It's running back into the garage at the moment. Has anyone used concrete with polmer fibres added is it worth the extra cost or just a sales thingy? Or do I just go for normal stuff?

The fibres do add extra strength but not normally needed on a garage floor. They're normally used on industrial floors and things likie that. Is it a standard (1 car ish) size garage? If so you shouldnt need fibres or any steel bars. I assume there will be no walls going to be built on it because the garage is already there and you just raising the floor? And just out of interest, what concrete company are you using?

cheers

erm.... caerleon concrete nr newport more than likely. the floor is about 7mts by 5 mtrs(2-3 cars) but will be graded down(9"of concrete down already) from 6" at the back to about 3" at the front no walls being built on it they're already there

You wont need the fibres then. Specially if its being layed on an existing concrete floor. Never heard of the company, but i dont live anywhere near there. Just the company i work for has had loads of problems with Tarmac, so i would recommend away from them.

cheers.

Yep the fibres are really just for anti cracking, they dont add strength really and as its not blistering heat atm it shouldnt dry quick enough to cause cracks anyway. Id be buggered if id mix 9 ton of concrete, by the time youve done all that it wont be much dearer to have it delivered and a hell of a lot less effort.

pity you dont live where i live...been using the same concrete guy for 10 years now,£40 per cube and dropped within 30 mins of his arangment;);)
