4 Wheel Laser Alignment

Recommended Posts

Well i decided after my springs had been fitted for a couple of months that i would fit all my adjustable stuff and get it all set up correctly :D

So yesterday i spent the day at my friends garage fitting my powertrix front upper arms, tension rods, rear caster arms and the rear camber arms (i think thats what they're called, lol). Anyway my friend has been a mechanic for 50 years and it shows, he had it done in no time even with me slowing him down, LOL.

Anyway today i googled 4-Wheel laser alignment and found a garage in Bootle about 40 mins away from me. To my surprise they fitted me in at 2pm :D When i got there i was pleasantly surprised at the professional set up they have, all almost new lifts and proper laser alignment equipment! Must of cost a fortune to set up! Anyway huge clean place with fantastic owners/operaters :D

They wacked it up on the lift and attached the 'pads' to my wheels and showed me an exagerated version of how my wheels were behaving under normal driving (if that makes sense), and proceeded to explain exactly what needed to be done and gave me a price, which was alot better than i expected :D I was expecting around the £100 mark, however it was only £65+VAT :D

They then proceeded to make the adjustments mm by mm, until they were happy that everything was how it should be, and then took everyting off and that was it - job done!

It now feels fantastic! Handles superb, it has made a massive difference to the driving experience, did'nt realise how much of a difference it would make!

Anyway i've posted this for a couple of reasons. Firstly it is a recommendation for any of the local lads if you ever want this doing :) And secondly just to share how much of a difference a few adjustments can make to the driving experience.

I believe you can see the details at the top of the printout they gave me - which is pretty cool :D However if you can't feel free to contact me and i will pass on their details.

All in all a superb experience with a great outcome :D

Apologies for no pics - i forgot my feckin camera!

But your cambers are still out?? They should all be green??

Same as the set up in a garage down here only cost me £15 last time :)

Thats how i want it Dave ;) :D

And what can i say, i asked ALOT of people about this and i NEVER heard of it for that price! Most people agreed it costs between £80 - £200 depending on what work needed to be carried out. So £65+VAT is just fine with me, lol :D

Whats the best set up then for the zx for camber and toe etc Got all my bits just need changing :(

Well TBH Dave i'm not an expert, i took it to the experts, lol :D

The guy got it up there and showed me on the computer how it was and then told me what needed to be done and then made a few suggestions regarding getting the best handling but whilst keeping my tyres in good nick, lol.

And then i let him get on with it :D So i believe the tops of the rear wheels are in a little bit at the top and the fronts toe outwards slightly............they are very subtle things and can't really be seen to the naked eye, however make a massive difference to the handling feel. :D

What can i say the proof is in the pudding, what he did has made it feel miles better :)

LOL they are in the industrial bit of Bootle, however very easy to get to just off the dock road :D Very industrial area however a very professional set-up :D

Guest Coopers-SWB

I tke it you can't adjust your camber and castor then.

They seem to still be out.

All they have adjusted is the toe or am I miss reading the form?

This is what mine looked like when I had it done.

Who has got lazer eye-sight for that thumbnail data-sheet??

I know my eyesight is failing, but that is ricadoodlious!!!

When I zoomed in using another editor, it was worse than the focus after a few stellas!

Any chance of a better pic Darrell?

Did you CLICK on the pic mate ;)

Hi zx-eyes,

I can see your data sheet, interesting read - which I did not need to click on.

It was the thumbnail data sheet from Coopers-swb (signed Darrell) that I am having difficulty with. Its like trying to focus on a fleas fanny from forty feet!

I have checked my screen resolution, looked for zoom in options, tried copying the thumbnail to paint and opening to get 800x zoom, but I can't seem to get any focus to read the data for his set-up.

Have you clicked on his (Coopers-swb) thumbnail data sheet?

I would like to see what differences there are in the two cars.

Firstly LMFAO @ Its like trying to focus on a fleas fanny from forty feet!

And secondly when you click on it, is it still too small for you to see it, if so i don't know what to suggest TBH, maybe coopers will be along and he might have a better quality pic of his sheet :)

Nice one Phil!!

They can set it up back to stock or adjust it to how you want mate. Mine as you can see is set slightly different at the back :D All depends what you want

They did mine there and then but thats cos it needed very little adjustment really.

Cheers,

Isaac
