Went to see Leon today and he's got started on the manifolds! Excellent job as always, he's managed to get the exact length / diameter I wanted in there and yet still make it so you can fit them without pulling the engine. Should be done by next week then can fire it up!!!!

I know you wont have them polished John but they would look spectacular if they were. Can't tell from the pic's as you don't get a good angle on the collectors, but what bore exhaust are you having? Just trying to imagine how mental this thing is going to sound.

They look like a proper work of art mate. I think they might sound pretty good too.

Is the idea of curving all of those so that they are all of equal length?

They are not all equal length. Some are shorter, some are longer. This is to spread the torque curve out slightly.

If they were all equal length you would get a higher peak torque figure, but it would be more a narrower powerband.

I'm sure JD might explain better :wack:

If they're not equal length then this car is going to sound very burly like a scooby.

And that is one crazy set up

Yeah, he's got the collectors perfectly horizontal by the end of the box. Exhaust will go from the 2 3" collector outlets to a single 4" pipe with one silenced output and one with the silencer bypass valve on it. Should be like armaggedon with that open.

Yes, the bends are to equalise the length although as Rob says, they're spread roughly an inch each way of 1m to spread the tuned width a little.

That looks superb and I like the way you have positioned the steeing column to ensure no probs when fitted in the car. Real engineering project that.

Thanks for that! i understand - flatten and broaden the powerband.

Can anyone recommend any good books/textbooks to look at for engine/mechanical theory?

Graham Bell's books are very good. Four stroke performance tuning and Modern engine tuning.

I agree with that, have the book and its superb explains it all but is a little complex in places.
