Excuse dumbness,but top pics are what exactly,part of boost upgrades etc i know,but am putting a list together of parts and mods for the spring,do they come as a pair, whats each one do,does it matter what chip runs with em, where is the best place to site them in car,what i am looking to do is,

1.chip/ecu upgrade,what make!

2.boost controllers,what make!

3.injectors,size!

4.a gauge that will show,water temp,oil temp,oil pressure etc as a allin one unit.

5.Who can do all this within 100 miles of northampton and not take weeks to do it!cheers all,and if i have missed anything a few pointers for extra mods welcome.

 

TonyC, as you can see, those 2 little gadgets are the Blitz Power meter iD and the SBC-iD.

 

They do come as a pair, i hear johny at GPS does them at a good price.

 

The power meter shows you things like 0-60, top speed, everythign to do with speed basically, i believe it estimates your bhp too, quite a clever gadget.

 

the SBC is the boost controller, quite obviously used to control the boost, very trick little gadget.

 

It doesnt matter what chip you run with them, but if you are going for higher than say 13psi boost you will DEFFINATLY not want to be using the stock chip. The SE chip is recommended as a good one to have these days, in preference to the JWT which is more suited to the RON of US fuel (gas ).

 

You could mount them in the lower stereo DIN, this is where macca used to have his positioned, but i guess you dont get very good vision of the screens tucked down there. So as you can see, macca has a trick new bracket thingy which suspends them from the roof in front of your head, clearly much better. I dont know much about this you'll have to ask macca himself.

 

So then, to ur list

 

1. as i say, SE is the choice of the moment.

 

2. blitz, they look the part and i should imagine are very good, dont take my word for it though ive not used any.

 

3. injectors, 555cc m8, these will be EXPENSIVE though, only really required with bigger turbos, its so expensive because the upper intake manifold needs to come off, big job! but i belive at the moment www.zedparts.com do a good deal on the 555's

 

4. this isnt possible without more sensors, there is no oil temp sensor on the car as stock, so one would need to be fitte,d im not sure if the oil pressure sender could be used, possibly. I dont know if you would be able to find something to do all that you want, but a techtom can show you readings off every sensor in the car afaik, AndyP and timmy_turbo have these units. You also have the option of a ConZult, but this requires you carting a laptop around in the car all the time, not ideal for a daily driver . Theres also a fancy Apex'i thing just out that *might* do all this, but ill be damned if i can find the info on it!

Did you know Iain jacked the rear wheels off the ground and reved the engine to get that reading on his ID meter

 

But seriousley I remember seeing the cavalier Turbo, calibra V6 and cavalier GSI2000 pulling off the sliproad and going for it. I just turned to ChrisC and said "watch macca take the bait here". I didnt even finish the sentence before we saw the Mac machine kick down and go hurtling after them. The cav gsi and calibra V6 didnt put up too much of a fight but the turbo was fast, I caught him up and pulled past him at about 163 then just backed straight off and pulled back into the inside lane once the job was done and the point was proved

We later found out at trax that the cavalier was supposed to be heavily modded to 350 bhp. Whether this is true or not I dont know, it was quick but not quick enough to beat the fastest breed of Z, The RED NORTHERN ZED'S
