MAC 1
I have had Sky+ for three years now and was thinking of upgrading to HD but is it really worth the extra £ when there is only a handful of channels broadcast in HD? Any HD people out there to give their 10p worth? thanks in advance.
groover
Hi Iain Definitley worth it imo. The digibox seems to clean up the existing channels as long as its connected with a hdmi cable. There some more HD channels going up soon. Cheers Graham
Guest 300zx_girl
Am I right in thinking its only worth it if you have an HD ready TV?

Steve-300ZX
If you're a sports fan, I would say definitly worth the extra tenner a month. Football on Sky Sports HD is superb. Eurosport are also in HD now. There's only three real areas for HD channels 1. Sky Movies x 3 channels 2. Sports x 4 channels. 3. Discovery, History & National Geographic. I don't normally watch the movies, not regular anyway. I do watch a lot of Sky Sports and loads of documentary stuff and for me, it's well worth the extra. MAC 1
Thanks Graham I know the quality is very good as I remember looking at Steves HD set up last year. Any ideas when Sky are launching more channels?
mac300zx
Sky 1 HD, Channel 4 HD, FX HD, and BBC HD are already here. Get it, Mac. You won't regret it. Non-HD channels seem so lame now.

Any HD people out there to give their 10p worth? thanks in advance. you don't have to subscribe if you've be on contract for a year or more. You have the option to independantly buy and install your own hd box. Then all you have to do is phone sky up and tie the new box in with your viewing card.(sky don't tell you that as they want to sell you a box and subscription) You will only get the free hd channels (bbc hd ch4 hd and one other I think) you also have a bigger hdd with them. Whether or not it's worth it (subscribing) I supposed it depends on your package. The picture quality especially bbc hd is awsome. For some reason it seems the best out of all of them. I read somewhere they use different bitrates for different channels/programmes and only have to meet a minimum quality. sky 0ne hd didn't seem that good to be honest when I saw it running but on the same box and tv bbc hd was ten times better seems about right for sky

This is why the picture quality on BBC is better.

paulbrem
Makes you want to watch any old shite just for the quality :D No seriously, I think its worth it and more channels will come out. Just to mention the ovbious, if you record a HD channel it takes up more space on your harddrive.

8ace
that's a pretty good deal is it still £10 a month extra for the facility? if so its good £120subs + £75=£195 with your subscribed package channels added. I think I paid £180 for my box off a private shop a year ago plus a £20 quad lnb+cable( i only get the free hd channels) but HD off sky then was near to £300 +£120subs what size boxes are they doing now with the deal? I've seen a few upgraded to 1Tb

BIGSSS
 I was the same when my dad told me! A salesman who doesn't want a sale  Then again fair play to the guy because he took my dads mobile number and text him to let him know it wasn't worth it just now but said he will keep his details and contact him next year if there is a better deal. Well the way I see it is HD is £10 extra per month but I already have multi room that also costs an extra £10 per month and I can say in all honesty that I never ever watch TV in bed. So I have sacked the multi room and swapped it for HD.

So I have sacked the multi room and swapped it for HD. you don't have to loose the mulitroom. You dont need a second box. the reciver has provision for a magic eye reciver to be fitted in a second room that you can change channel over with an extra remote. all you need is coax cable to the room from reciver downstairs a magic eye reciver another remote and your done tell them to stick multiroom up their a##e and have their reciver back only downfall is you wont be able to watch different channels from one room to another
