scottztt
Just to let you know the din plate from zcentre, you have to glue it to the centre console. It has no fixings. I also bought the 3 hole one then bought 3 defi gauges ( 52mm ) but all 3 wouldn't fit, it's too tight for defi's. I ended up pillar mounting them. Although 2 would fit fine, just 3 is a problem. atlast
I still havent a clue as to wether mechanical or elec what is the most reliable
petes21st
depends on the gauge in question, with a mechanical gauge you normally have hoses threading through your dashboard, electrical however are normally just wires. Personally i prefer the mechanical gauges because i get the feel they're more accurate because they're not just getting a funky signal from a foreign wire
atlast
Ta for info. i will go for the mechanical ones
ck300z
I still havent a clue as to wether mechanical or elec what is the most reliable yeah ill be going for the mechanical's seen a fair few nice one's on the bay think i'll put 2 in cubby hole under stereo and prob some kind of badge to save a gap in middle if only 2 /52mm clocks can be fitted there question is where do i put the 3rd ? Yowser
Electrical gauges. I would'nt fit a mechanical Water temp or Oil temp/pressure gauge into a car. In fact I believe mechanical gauges are dieing out, they only ever really get used for Boost gauges these days. Electrical gauges also have the advantage of Peak warnings and memory readings. I would trust an electrical sender more than a mechanical gauge for accuracy and response. Edited October 7, 2008 by Yowser

Modern eletrical gauges are likely to be more accurate and quicker responding than mechanical gauges also. yeah i noticed the warnings on the digi's good idea:D agree that some mechanical gauges do look dated brings back memories of a 924 i use to have lol:rofl: but i do like the look of certain ones has anyone got any pics of gauges (mechanical or/digi fitted to compartment under stereo?)

Cheap gauges, but they did the job. I wouldn't reccomend Smoked faced gauges though, not unless you spend money on the likes of Defi. They have poor daytime visibility.
