Might be ordering a new car this time next year. Just wondering what's out there.

Gotta be something practical. The Z is my impractical partner.

I know it's a long way off, but trying also to think of anything semi-interesting that's coming onto the market.

I like the new Lancer (not evo). Very cheap and very highly spec'd. I hate SUVs, but also glanced at the Qashqai. Not really my thing, but a fully spec'd up one might be quite cool.

Nothing really on the Euro market that really excites me. There's a new Golf coming out at the end of the year 'yawn'. Focus...well, it's a Ford and whilst they are good, they don't really do anything for me. The Mondeo is too big really....but saying that, I like the new C5 from Citroen....I know, I know. But it looks pretty good. I can't stand ANYTHING from Peugeot, don't want a Vauxhall, had too many of those. The Astra is getting a bit long in the tooth and the new Insignia..well, again, probably too big really.

Don't like the Avensis, it's nice to drive, but is as old as the hills, new one is due, but not fussed by it. The new Accord is nice and so is the Mazda 6, which are two others I think fit the bill, yes, they're big, but they are styled nicely and look sleak. The Accord is just a facelifted version of the old car and TBH, although it's good, is quite pricey over its rivals.

There's a lot of nasty stuff that I'd rather shake a stick at like the Kias, Hyundais, Chryslers etc.

I know other stuff will be on the market in a year's time, but currently, I'm quite liking this (although I'm not the biggest fan of the interior!)

Anyway, just throwing a few ideas about if anyone has any further ones.

Qashqai is supposed to be highly rated. They have grown on me, I know they are not a true SUV, just not sure, with my hatred for SUVs that I could have one.

Audi?

Yeah, quite like the A3 and is one of the few Euro cars I'd stick on the list.

They feel like a car to drive and not like an suv his is auto and the saftey grouping is very high and the depreciation is relitivly low dont know any ref on servising costs

get a murano lol,

Too expensive, but pretty funky.

IS220

Too expensive.

Or get them to buy my saab

LOL! Saabs are great cars, but the current lineup is a really old one. The new 95 looks like it's wearing a pair of reading specticles and is based on the 20 year old 9000! The 93 looks nice, but it's based on an old Vectra, I do like the look of it, but it really is long in the tooth now.

you can get a murano a lot cheaper now than you think, especially if you buy used, and even more especially if you work at nissan lol

we test drove the qashquai before settling on a honda FRV, we have not been disapointed - its a great car. our neighbours then bought the qashquai and parked side by side there is no contest - ours looks the bees knees! come and have a test drive if you want..

FRV is a little too much like an MPV. It looks quite good and the dash is pretty funky, but it's not really the style I'd go for.

I was behind a mazda 6 tonight in black and it did look quite nice :)

They look good. I'd have to have a saloon version. They look more in proportion to the hatch.

I actually had a top-spec Mazda 6 when I was in the US (old model though). Whilst the Euro version in the main look a little bland, the US spec ones looked pretty good with beefier bumpers, bigger wheels and engines. I got quite attached to it too for some reason. I had a huge V8 Dodge Durango (SUV) for a few days as well and really hated that!

But the new 6 really looks smooth and classy. White or silver would be the colour I'd go for. Probably silver. Or there's like a really nice pearlescent colour they do. A sort of silvery violet.

Too expensive, too impractical and I don't want anything that reminds me of a Prius! LOL

mmmmm, how about:

a) Skoda Octavia vRs - Massively underrated car, great to drive, very practicle

funkysuggestvrs.jpg

b) BMW 120d Coupe - Jodies current company car, suprisingly good fun to drive, 600 miles to a tank of fuel and very comfy over distances, better looking that its hatch sibling, BMW make the best most refined diesels FACT!

c) Kia Pro 'ceed - very highly rated and one of the best cars out of Korean region, pretty funky looking in the candy apple green and candy apple red colours.

Hopefully some food for thought for you mate

If your considering SUV's the new Mitsubishi 'outlander' is a nice vehicle in Black...Gut where i work has just bought one. Plus, low emissions on some units meaning lower tax bands and i think the 2.2 mivec unit does 40+ to the gallon? I assume as it's company related that it might also fall inside the contract hire rates if your firm use that as a guide?
