Just to advise Lynbrooks don't do imports. Unless they're from the EU zone. I tried to convince the lady that Japan was recently adopted into the EU but I think she rumbled me............................

do you mean Lynbrook insured your Jap import?

Yep,they asked if it was a 'grey' import.

I'll call them back - can you give me any sort of ref point such as reg number or name via p.m.?

Update. Called Sky - very helpful bloke called Jason. Got me a quote FC and all the trimmings plus all mods covered. £315.

Then had to check with my current insurer A Flux (who had said renewal was 375) and they wouldn't let me go - so they popped under the radar at 314. Whats a guy to do?? So Flux won the day again. International breakdown was an extra £45. so there we go.

I called Lynbrook up today just to verify (although I already have my policy clearly stating my car is an import) and they said 'yes we cover imports and refusal would not be just because it's an import'

When I called I deliberately posed the question about Imports to save my time and she said point blank we don't insure imports. What else to say? I certainly won't ring them again if they don't have a consistent policy.

i'd save it for when it breaks down :D

Please correct me if i am wrong, as it would be useful to know, but i thought you had to have a completely standard car in order to get a classic car insurance cover?

That's what the various brokers told me too.

i use performance direct for the tiv.

laura now has the policy on the z, works out at under £300 per year and she is 25. not a bad price, thats through admiral.

I'm on a classic insurance and I asked them if it would be ok to add mods on, they said it would be fine

This sums up insurance companies:

"I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I’m not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant"
