I am looking at possibly a "cheap" upgrade to improve the feel of my brakes, and fitting Steel Braided Brakelines appears to be a good idea?

I have taken a look at a few suppliers prices, and the UK sites have ranged from £51 to £120 (so far). Can anybody recommend a make & type (I see you can also have Teflon Coating, etc...) & supplier? The manufactures and differences in their products is unknown to me, and hope somebody can help me through this 'minefield'?

I am looking initially at UK suppliers, as I have my car booked in for some work later this month. My experience of getting parts from the US, etc... has involved delays.

Thanks in anticipation of your sound knowledge & advice, and such a great site.

I think mine are Motul or something like that, i got them From Paul G at Avalon, He is very good on price on delivery but is as you say from the states. Can't remmember how much i paid but think it was about 60 quid. 120 is high im sure.

They are a pretty good mod if you go with the DOT 5 fluid as well

Over here Paul Bailey and SE do them, have a word with Johnny @ GPS he can probably get you some on the cheap.

I did some further "research" and came across 2 main makes: BF Goodridge; Aeroquip (I think this is the Motul reference type).

Basically both supply the pieces, and then they are made up to order locally. I was hearing around £9 each piece + vat + postage as a norm, but these quotes were from firms that either wanted exact measurements and type of ends or the old ones as templates!

In the end I called S&E Motorparts, very helpful (online access to Nissans catalogues to compare Import and UK Spec details etc.) and ordered their Z32 Goodridge items. One word of warning they were showing £52 on their website, but did not honour this - said things had changed and quoted a higher price - although they did throw in free the postage & packing.

The Brakelines arrived yesterday and is a complete kit of Stainless/Teflon Hoses with Nickel Plated Brass fittings, as well as like finished male receivers for the calipers and holding springs. It is a Motor-flex Brakeline Kit and boxed up for the Z32.

I am impressed with the package, but less so with the price - after being attracked to the site by £52.88 with vat, I now find the increased price agreed was apparently without vat. I see Moto-flex has a site, and appears to sell direct (see http://www.bsr-aerotek.com/brake3.htm). This is not good news for me (as the lines should last a lifetime), but may benefit one of you?

Jez, I came across the following URL on DoT 4 viz DoT 5: http://www.rennlist.org/techarticles/928brakefaq.htm#dot 4

Boy you must drive fast? I am not sure, but I have a feeling that the import 300's may only have DoT 3 as standard fluid, from some information I have seen?

Cheers, Geoff

Sorry to Nico and Jez. The last paragraph in my above post should have been addressed to Nico. Apologies.

I am having a bad day for Typos. Geoff

You may like to take a look at Moto-flex (see http://www.bsr-aerotek.com/brake3.htm).

I have been impressed with their product.

Also the following URL on DoT 4 viz DoT 5 may be of interest: http://www.rennlist.org/techarticles/928brakefaq.htm#dot 4

Fyi, my import is stickered up as only to use DoT 3 - also noted in hardbooks & service manuals. (No, unfortunately I do not read Japanese).

There have been several previous post on the subject, which also may help you decide.

Good Luck, Geoff

£75, but as I say try direct - you may be pleasantly surprised? Geoff
