I've never had an auto, although I've driven one, but is the little check control on the right hand side of the steering column for AT models? The left hand side is fine, CC and HICAS plus others etc.

I've never seen anything light up there, or at least I don't think I have!?

Useless for me then! All TTs came with the dual check control. What I might do is get one from an NA. I know there are blanks over both of them, but considering mounting a Blitz DSBC flush with that on that side?

It should do, but when I fit it, I don't want it to look like it was fitted over the top of something that 'was' there.

What I want to do is to take the back off the boost controller so you're just left with the front. Cut a hole slightly smaller than the profile of the unit and slide it in so it all looks flush. I hate having clutter the on the dash area. Nothing worse than pods, lights, tachos, boost controllers, turbo timers, gauges all stacked up on top of one another. Just looks a mess!

Yes, because I think the check control sits A: too high to be able to successfully mount a boost controller there and B: is deeper than the profile of the boost controller.

The Boost controller is thinner than the outline of the check control.

The only thing with the NA is that I 'think' they have blanking plates over the redundant check control.

Can someone with an NA post up a photo of their dash binnacle?

Might be a case of getting an NA one, getting the blanking plate glued to the binnacle, then cutting the hole required, then having any outlines/cutouts smoothed and painted in the plastic paint.

....it could fit under I guess.....this is a USDM car which is why the check controls are round the other way.

Spanks Gaz.

Can't quite see from there, but do the check controls have blanks over them?

What I would really like is an old Greddy Profec 'A' boost controller. Kinda looks so non-descript, it'll sit quite happily in that area of the dash practically un-noticed. The 'B' looks a little too modern with its blue screen and silver dials. I want it to blend into the dash.

Before anyone says 'mount it where the clock is'. NO, I like the clock and use it to tell the time without having to switch on the stereo to see what time it is! LOL

Interesting. I felt sure I'd see some NAs with blanks over those little screens. I guess I was mistaken.

I'll fit it up your arse! Sideways!

Sorry it will be just like the dash then ;)

Could you not make a little glove box on the drivers side like the mr2???

Will look stealth then??

No, I want it to be accessable.

I have a similar dilema with the cruise control. I have a great idea though. Since mine is a series 1 with an aftermarket wheel, I loose the CC facility. I have CC, but it's disabled. I already looked into retro-fitting the CC paddle from an SRS equipped Z32. BUT unfortunately, I'd have to fit another column as the shroud as a different size!

My idea is to make a slight cutout in the very top of the trim panel that sits under the drivers side part of the dash. The same size as the CC button clustor. I'd then be able to flush mount fit it and run the cables up to the column. Now, I'd cut out a kind of semi-circle, so that the top of the button clustor basically sat flush directly under the dash binnicle. Kinda hard to explain. But when I can figure out the wiring as some of it's been removed, I'll be able to show you.

Now I'd rather not get a second-hand boost controller. But since Greddy don't exist anymore, let alone make the old Profec A or Blitz make their SBC R or whatever it's called, I'd look at getting a used one.

The Profec-A really does meet my criteria, it's the right size, has the right look for the age of the car. Just a shame you can't buy them new anymore.

I'm not sure it's a TT/NA thing Si, I think it's a Series thing.

The later models incorporated all the warning lights in to the speedo clusters.

Mine has blanked off areas there.

There was a write up in TwinTurbo that showed a profec B installed in that location. You've probably already seen it but to anyone who hasn't, the link is:

After much thinking i've decided to install my Profec B and Tein EDFC in those locations. Not ideal as i've got an airbag steering wheel so it's a pain to see around but i honestly can't think of anywhere else to put them.
