As some of you may have seen on one of my previous posts my zed has rotted and I am going to scrap it.

I need to get rid as soon as possible as I don't have room to get the new car on the drive at the moment.

I am going to keep the engine & gearbox for my next project, are there any other parts which I need to make sure I keep.

I will be keeping all the obvious ones like lights seats etc, just wondering if any of the electrics etc inside are worth anything.

Having never broken a car before is there a good order to start stripping things?

How long does it normally take?

My car is a LWB and will be looking at a SWB for the engine to fit into so some of the parts I will be looking to sell on.

I have stripped cars down, but only panels and interiors, nothing big and mechanical, lol. Its pretty easy really, personally my advice would be to do a bit every night or something. Set yourself a target of getting such and such a thing off etc.......

A zed is'nt really harder than any other car in that respect, just strip it in the most obvious way, and keep a note as to what everything is.

Other than that i can't help anymore, lol. But if you think i can, fire away

HTH :)

I have just started removing some of the interior, I need to get it done quickly though because of the space problem, my partner is adamant that I get another zed so thats good, Just got to find a new daily driver first.

If you are doing the interior, a quick tip :) Take the back seats out first, firstly the back rest, only 4 bolts, and then the base of the back seat, again very very easy, that will then give you easy access to the nuts and bolts holding the quarter panel trim in place and the trim that covers the speakers ;) :)

Hi mate the vultures are descending already :). If your passenger door card (including the fixed pull handle) is up for grabs how much do you want for it?

I am going to hang onto the door cards and re-trim them, to get rid of the nasty tweed, as I believe they are the same size for LWB and SWB.

Beermonster, here is a pic of the rear seats, I have not taken them out yet, would want about £50 for them, I see you are in Notts, not far to come and collect them.

If you want to email me about it my address is 'alexcatlow at hotmail.com'

For anyone else wanting bits, I will being starting a new thread in the for sale section once I have stripped it down, although I will be keeping quite a few bits for my new car.
