1.to much play in the hand break.

2.need new front pads.

3.steering cuplink.

so i thought ok not bad untill he told me the price £520 parts vat and labour now i did ask for green stuff pads as ive been told thay are good,so i checked the prices on the web site last night so i had a good idear wot thy would be,so when i asked him for the price of the pads he came back with £85 when i no you can get them for £40-£45 so this sent alarm bells threw my head.

so now after my big rant my ? to you all is where can i get a steering cuplink from and how much do u think it would be,now ive been told close to £200 is this true, and is the green stuff the best pads for my car if not wot should i get and how much would thay be.SO PLEASE HELP IN ANY WAY YOU CAN, as you just cant trust garages.:( :( :( :(

Sounds like you got off lightly.

Handbrake, here's a how2 on how to take up slack in the handbrake cable.

Front pads is pretty easy to do.

What did the MOT tester say was buggered in the steering? Was it just the rack bushes?

Green stuff pads are more expensive than £45.

Wrong feckin link!

You can adjust the rear shoes through the disc to tighten up handbrake, unless the cable is too stretched. Front pads will take about an hour to do both sides, if that.

Steering coupling not too sure about as you will need to be more part specific, but i would say at least half that price including labour.

lower steering coupling is about £100 is iirc. dead easy to remove & install in about 10 mins.

parking brake if just adjustment is dead easy & pads are feck all!

jeez, thought my prices were expensive in a merc dealership LOL!!!

Handbrake adjustment is no more than half an labour at most. Adjust at lever if cable stretched, or otherwise at each disc.

Porterfield, Hawk and Ferrodo have the best Brake pad reputation here. They will cost £70-£120 for a set of fronts though. Takes less than half an hour to do both sides!

Cuplink = Steering coupling ? speak to Mike @ MJP

Couple of hours Labour for the lot.

Whats a steering cuplink, never heard anything called that before. I have some parts from the car I broke lying about if I have what you are looking for I wont be hard to deal with and I stay quite close to you so no waiting on parts being delivered etc. If its easier give me a shout on 07717 228963.

Cheers John
