My comute to work is a 75mile round trip half over long straight A roads and half over small moorland roads with lots of twisties, bumps'n'hollows and valleys with hair pins and steep hills...cracking good fun!:smash:

Previously used SAAB T16s and lately Pug 205gti...the pug I have to say has been a right hoot! Now because of the route and the way it gets ragged everyday its pretty much on its last legs poor thing...tis a great little car!

So what to replace it with? Was so impressed with ithe pug have been thinking about getting another but with an Mi16 engine conversion...and perhaps one or two other mods!

But something in me says try something different...plus the pug doesn't have the road presence once back on the long straights. Was toying with the idea of a MR2 turbo...rev2 or 3...like the idea of a mid engined rear wheel driver with that tub whistle in ya earlug....I think! Though I'm thinking it's going to be just too heavy a car for the moors...but I hear it can hold its own with almost anything on the big roads.

Anyone got any thoughts....looking for something with a good power to weight ration...torquey...built like a tank but with handling...reasonably good styling and qudos....reliable and not too expensive to maintain...price around 3K mark....oh and fuel economy...get 375miles from £50 in the pug.

Cheers

turbo charged mx5?

maybe struggle to get one around that price though

scooby/evo?

lacks the image & style but good fun on twisty roads

You cannot beat an mr2 on the twisties. its like being back to basics and it is /feels like a very light car to drive etc

umm......how about a 300zx ? (except for fuel economy LOL....although Mr2 Turbo wont be much better)

yeh thought about mx-5s....would be ideal for the tight twisties...if ya can look beyond the hair dresser image lol....turbo version would be interesting though...am I right in thinking they're a very rare import...never see any for sale.

evo....interesting never thought about that...thought they be outside price range...so many different versions though...will have to do a spot of research there me thinks.

Liking the idea of mr2 turbo at the mo....you're right I just checked the kerb weight approx 975kg...not bad at all!!!

My lovely Zed has been off the road more than on it since I bought it a year ago...queue violins stage left...but when I have managed to drive it to work its just too heavy and cumbersome for the small moorland roads....and then there's the low front spoiler....ouch!

yep 1200kg sounds more like it...thought it was too good to be true...still darn good though considering the power!
