Easier on a ramp than on the deck. Basically a simple but tedious job. Exhausts need to come off first to gain access. If your cats/decats have not been off recently that can be a PITA. Be carefull not to shear any studs on the manifolds!

The rest is simple spanner work.

What would you gain?

Less drivetrain weight, resulting in better throttle response, quicker acceleration and less power loss to the rear wheels.

Similar to fitting lightweight pulleys and lightweight flywheel.

Also means no more having to deal with the common failing propshaft bearing.

Just to add to the thread. Is an aluminium one a lot better, and can it last and take the strain of higher BHP. Anyone know? not just what we read.

i second this question! - how much HP can they hold?

All the big powered Zed's in the states run Single Propshafts. Never heard about any problems. Would in theory hold more power than the stock propshaft.

I run a single carbon fiber propshaft on mine, not had any problems, currently pushing over 400 bhp. but hope to be closer to 500 after mapping.

who's the best supplier of these, and which are the best, aluminium or carbon fibre?

Ultimate weight saving is with the brown cardboard tube(CF)

Just depends on the size of yer wallet;)

i know they did but last time a looked a Z1 it had disappeared

Where did you buy it ?

I bought it off another member here who shorty after buying and getting it balanced swapped his 2+2 for a 2+0 so it was no longer of any use.

Carbon very expensive £1000 compared to £250

Yup I think the cheapest I've seen the for is about £850 but then that was when the exchange rate was $2 = £1
