my brother has just bought some new Alloys for his saxo. The wheel bolts that are holding his current wheels on have a tapered head. The new alloys require a flat headed bolt. is it safe to use the tapered ones or will he have to buy some new bolts?

Cheers chaps

For the cost of them, personally, I'd rather buy a set of flat bolts. The load then becomes evently distributed between the taper of the bolt and the chamfer on the wheel.

PS, I'd tell him to get rid of the car rather than faff around with the wheel bolts! LOL ;)

IIRC, tapered head are for steel wheels, flat head are for alloys.

If he uses the tapered bolts they will come loose at some stage.
