Hi,

 

As my Z is stranded at PPS, I started wondering!

 

Does anybody know of a flow chart to help people who have broken down, don't know if a normal one would help, it's just that the z is lot more complicated than the normal car!

 

Anyway it would give something for you techie blokes to do, if you haven't already done it!!

Hello Tim,

 

It's been starting like a dream as per usual, then he goes to start it up to bring it down and no joy, turns over but doesn't fire!

Sounds like a PTU problem.

Thats what I thought but someone said PTU's usually expire when they are hot!

HEY MARK,i spent a couple of hours trying to help get it started.i changed the ptu ,to a new 1, but that still didnt help.

ya car is trying to fire up but just when ya think its gonna start,NOTHING!!

Was gonna try an ecu diagnostic ,but it seems ur ecu is different to mine so i couldnt

have u ever done 1?how?

we checked all the fuses and electric connections but all seem fine and the fuel pump seems to be working ok

does anyone have any ideas as im calling peter tommorow to tell him what else to try

 

come on you tech guys,lets have some ideas off u so mark can get his car back

ok, start at the basics -

 

1, have you got a spark?? pull a coil out with a plug on it, earth out the plug & crank engine

 

2, have you got fuel?? pull off fuel supply to fuel rail & check flow/pressure

 

if the ecu is the same as mine there is no screw to turn to put it into diag mode.

 

short out 2 pins as per workshop manual in drivers footwell to get flash code from engine light on dash.

you can smell the fuel after turning it over

it is the ecu with no screw

just remember peter isnt a mechanic so easy things are best mentioning to him first

or we could do with someone who is really good with zeds havin a drive over.

Just talked to the Z Guru Dazza and he reckons,

 

1 PTU are you sure the PTU you swapped is a Good UN?

 

2 The alarm, if the car has been in an oven this can affect the alarm!

 

3 The Ecu could be up the spout!

 

Just thought I would let you know what the guru thinks

I suspect the PTU he tried is off my Z!

Jay nicked mine when his failed and replaced mine with a new one.

I'm going up on friday mate so I'll have a look at it for you if it's still there.

 

the PTU is brand new and never been used!it was ordered from courtesey for chris

 

i think unless there is a code when ya do the ecu diag, id guess you have a fuel block somewhere?

peter mentioned that bfr he got some petrol it had run low and he had a prob starting it bfr,just not as bad as now

maybe when it ran low,it picked up some shit,and thats ya problem?

just a guess???

Have you checked the CAS??? You REALLY need to do an ecu diagnostic check wink.gif
