can someone please tell me the correct fuel to use for a standard 300zx TT, it may seem like a silly question but are they supposed to be run on high octane fuel, eg BP Ultimate 99ron or can they be used on the normal 95 stuff.

i only ask as my M3 is high otance only, and need verification.thanks in advance.

You'll probably get better performance on higher octane fuel than your normal unleaded..

I think you'll find most use Vpower :)

are you sure his is a uk? maybe we should check out his front bumper  (again)

:slap: :slap:

yeah you can run normal unleaded on uk car, i did until i worked out i was getting better mpg out of v-power. Well until i upgraded to approx 450bhp :nana2: , more to come :hyper::hyper: but now v-power only and really bad mpg:eek:

thanks, im not to techincally minded but on the m3s from what ive read it requred higher octane to match the ECUs detonation requirements, and no turbo cars using an incorrect grade of fuel is apparantly catastrophic. (not spelt correctly)

i will try the V power stuff, my car does about 20mpg rough calculation from doing 215 miles to 50quid (43litres.)

Yours is UK so normal 95 is fine, if its standard

Am i to assume then that if you have an import then you should be using higher ron than 95??

And whilst were on the subject, my auto tt is doing no more than 12mpg at the moment. I havent been on a decent length drive but im hopeing it will do more than that. Does that sound about right??

Imports were mapped for higher octane fuel, so yes, you shouldn't use 95ron... not that you'll necessarily get better performance (VPower claim you do) - it's for better protection from detonation - which is essentially what a RON rating is...

As for 11mpg, something's almost certainly wrong - unless you;re always running it around on short journeys...

Yes import cars are mapped to run on higher octane fuel, as in Japan they use higher octane than over here. Because your's is a UK it is mapped to run on ordinary 95, so you'll be fine with that.

Alot of people use higher octane fuel regardless for certain reasons, however i can tell you my car is a Jap TT and i ran mine on 95 for 2 years without a single problem! ;) The only reason i have switched to higher octane is bacause i am now running a Jap Blitz Access ECU and Electronic Boost Controller.

Regarding your fuel economy, it depends how heavy your right foot is! When i bought my car from Swindon i had a long drive home and believe it or not i got 33mpg!!!!!!!! going at a steady constant speed on the motorway. However when i go to my grandpas and back twice a week which is only about 20 miles away, it costs me £20!!!!! But thats mainly cos i give it some beans and have a bit of fun :D

HTH :)

Yeah mine is an import but is running standard boost atm, i guess ill start with the 97 ron fuel next time i fill up.

Most of my journies are short 5 - 15 miles so i expected it to be thirsty. I would like to see what it does on a longer run, if its dry on the weekend i might just go for a decent spin and find out.

Just a point about Octane rating of fuel.

BP Ultimate and Total and Esso premium fules are all 97 Ron

Only Shell VPower is 99 Ron...

I run mine on V Power and it runs really sweet.... anything lower and just not as good

I thought Shell was 98 and Tesco was 99.

run my import auto tt on 95 seems ok use it everyday to an fro work bout 8 miles round trip get about 50 miles for 20 quid have tryed 97 dont seem much different

you#ll have to be carefull if your givin it te beans, especially in hot weather!

V-Power is 99, i think Optimax (back in the day!) was 98.

Always run mine on v power apart from the other day when i wa forced to put some horrifically expensive bp ultimate in because shell had a tanker in for more time than the earth has ever had! Feels rubbish on that with my mines chip :(

is that all? over the past year, all maxol stations in southern ireland have replaced standard unleaded with E5 (5% Bioethanol, 95% Unleaded) which has a RON of 99.2 and still sells for the same price as the replaced unleaded. u gotta love the republic for offering deals like this for bugger all, whereas if we got the fuel up here (N.Ireland) there would be unreal tax added as usuall.

My motor only seems to boost to 0.5 bar, would that be because its detecting det and going to safety boost?

My understanding is that standard boost would be 0.6 bar. Im guessing thats because ive been putting normal unleaded in it,does that sound about right?

I have done the paper clip routine and the light is flashing code 55 (nothing wrong).

Get a water injection system installed then you can run low ron, save money and still have a safer engine :D

Yes, it seems as if you're in safety boost.

Run the fuel low then find your nearest shell station and buy some V-Power.

I wouldn't put anything else in my zeds. (apart from bluegas) :D

Right thanks, i think ill syphon the toss fuel out and stick it in the old escort then;)
