My son took some nice pictures at JAE. He has a digital SLR Canon 400 I think. Well this picture is a pretty good shot of my new sidelights: I am pleased with the way they light up the whole headlight.:D

i did it myself bud. i stripped the lights measured the spacing and drilled the holes then installed and wired the leds using a common resistor inline at the 12v feed.

a few people saw them at night at the JAE Bri and all said they like them. Obviously not evryones cuppa but in the flesh they look even better. Once I have moved house and set up a better work shop I will do the mod for anyone who wants it. I just need to get some headlights to play with on an exchange basis. I culd also incorporate indicators into it as I have now got orange leds and red leds along with the white

EDIT: yes just the LEDs on Bri.

That looks awesome :D  I love the way they light up the whole headlight, i had to look closely as i thought you had the beam on, lol. Nice one Vini. I think when you get up and running i'll be a customer :D

I think there are some regulations about indicators having a separate enclosure to main lights? Worth checking first...

The mk 4 golfs have indicators in their headlamp enclosure.

Vinny would be interested in getting these done from you let me know what the estimated cost would be, and does anyone know if this legally counts as a sidelight?

NP mate. as for the legallities all I know is that Audi use them as the sides so there cant be any problems but safe to say that you can always have them as an addition to the existing sides mate? I am thinking I will charge £50 to do the job which will not include postage and if I can get a set before then it will be a fairly quick turn over? I have a stock of new glass bond albeit in black and not grey and as mine were the first any gremlins that I found will be eliminated;) I can also do them to taste as in the amont of leds required I have 11 in each unit but if anyoine wanted something different then that would cost no more but may take a little longer. I obviously dont want to get flooded with work doing these so to be fair I will only take a job on when I know that I can deliver. This will have to wait BTW until I have moved and set up my new workshop in maybe 3-5 weeks time so looking at around mid October.

BTW I would like the committee to know I am not going to make money doing this and so therefore wont need to become a trader if thats fine with them and anyone else? The time I have to put into these is about 5 hours each unit and it includes the cost of all the components.

thanks vini:D

Do you have an close up pics of the headlights without them on ?.

I just want to see what they would look like during the day.

they don't - they're incorporated in one unit, but each lamp has it's own projector/ housing... so indicator is still visible when any driving light is on... it may be ok, but don't think it's worth invalidating your insurance for... I assume an mot tester would know??

That would be a good idea. I will see if I can find something out. There isnt a great deal of info on the legalaties of lights that I can find on the .gov site
