Just on from my other post about my respray, would any mechanical damage occure from a car sitting for 20 months (and will be longer by the time it gets sorted) and only being started a handfull of times?

Cheers

When I put the fuel lines on correctly  Mine started up as soon as I turned the key, mine was sat for about a year and drove to and back from a bodyshop twice which is less than a mile away from my house, I would'nt worry about it.

Mine sat for 8 months :( and it started fine :) The only problems i had were my car nearly stalling when coming to a stop, which was fixed with carb cleaner in the air valve. That prob may or may not be related to it standing. And second prob was my throttle jamming open, again fixed very easily and again may not have been related.

I basically took it very easy for about 10 miles and then eased back into 'driving' it again and all has been fine.

Same as above i would'nt worry too much :)

Cheers guys. Not overly worried as it does start and is a bit rattly at first but once oil gets into the lifters quietens down.

My point is if I do end up taking the garage to a small claims court I want to be prepared with any additional info such as any issues with my car sitting for what will probably be 2 years ;)

Check for pin hole leaks in the fuel lines.

Make sure your rad cap is still working as this may have ceased and rusted.

Your fuel has probably lost it's vapour so filling her up with fresh would be a good start.
